Im excited, I passed the technician exam. No call sign yet, maybe in a few days. No radio yet anyway.

Yet another interest that will surely lighten my wallet (but it's worth every cent):D

Congrats!

You'll enjoy your tech license even more once you get a radio to use with it . . .

Well three of us passed the Tech test as well. The guy with the perfect score asked, "So, what channels can we use, now?" (NO names will be used at this time.) He was told that Amateur Radio consists of legal "frequencies".

So, like they say, now we have a license to learn. And there is a lot out there.

For me personally, it is quite a moment, as I had a Novice license, for 1 year, in 1965, I think. And I have always wanted to get back to it. Today is the new start of it. Thanks to all the old HAMs that have kept it all going, and thanks to the buds that pushed me here.

I certainly hope that I understand your question, because I just replied in this thread:

WooHoo is for celebration. The response above is, I hope, a sober look into what we have to look forward to.

Thanks,
Dale

Frequencies? is that how often you can use the radio? JK

I know that was just plain wrong, but I could not pass up that opportunity.:p

Good work!

I finally did it last year after thinking about it for several years off-and-on. Having used CB (Chicken Band) a lot, Amateur radio is such a pleasure. Not that one doesn't still need CB for trail rides and shorter distance communication because that's what most people have, but HAM is so much better :-)
