Hey fellas, Just discovered this forum from a link from the Ih8mud forum. This is the type of place I've been looking for. I have a '92 FJ80 that I've been working on over the past few years with the purpose of long distance self sustained trips and general sight seeing. I'm looking forward to reading up on some of the trips here and gaining some insights to some places to check out. :)

thanks for the welcome guys. I made a post with a bunch of pictures and info, but by the time I went to submit it, I was logged out and lost it. I'll try to find some time again later to do it over, bummer.

Oh Bummer. The forum does not have a time-out set, so it could have been a lost connection (possibly). Sorry :o
We will all be waiting anxiously to check out your cool machine :clapsmile

OK attempt 2 I'll do this in parts as to avoid losing it again.
The truck is a '92 FJ80 that I bought 4 1/2 years ago.
Mods are as follows,
OME 2.5" 850/863 (heavy load) lift
ARB Bull Bar (winchbar)
Hella 550 auxillary lights
Conferr basket- don't know the exact dimesnisons off hand but it overhangs the roof slightly and runs from the back up to the sunroof. The basket has mounting for my spare, jerry cans, high lift, water containers, and all extra tools and equipment that I throw up there.
33x12.50 BFG Mud Terrain KM's mounted on 15x8 black Unique D spokes
140 amp Mean Green Alternator
I removed the rear two rows of seats and built a one man bed that sits about window height with storage below
Safari Snorkel
extended diff and tranny breathers
rhino lined fender flares
dechromed
I had a deer take out the passenger side of the truck a couple of winters ago and body work done and a repaint. This was my daily driver untill then, but now its just used for trips for wheeling and local excursions. Right now I've got the front axle apart due to a tempermental birfield. I'm planning on installing a set of Longfields in it in the spring.
Next post will be pictures....

The images don't seem to link well here from imagestation, so I'll have to post links.
Couple of shots of the bed in back after I threw it in. Not the greatest shots, but at least it gives an idea.

Ha ha, this place is more of my speed I can tell already.
H, I'm planning a CO trip again last week of July first week of August next summer. Will probably spend a good chunk of time in the San Juans again. If you have the time and interest, it would be cool to meet up with you again, or anyone from this group.

Do you have lockers as well?

I call Marquette, MI home (upper peninsula) but I'm not there very much due to work. I spend alot of time in CO where I am right now actually. I love '91-'92's as well. The '93+'s definately have some advantages, but you gotta love the simplicity of the 3fe powered 80's.

Yeah, that was a good drop! I was a tad nervous because I was taking a line close to the edge. Same with the second video too, but you can't tell because of the angle. About a 1/4 mile further up the canyon is a wrecked/crushed Willy's wagon laying at the bottom of the canyon!

I'm here right now actally, ha ha. I've been up in Vail and Summit County for the past couple of weeks, and here for another week and a half. I'm in Boulder alot too actually, just not with my rig all of the time. I am planning on having it with me in the end of July next summer though for a couple of weeks of vacation and wheeling. Would be cool to meet up and run some trails if you're interested.

Oh and McVickoffroad, I forgot to answer you, no I'm open front and rear diffs. All I have is the center diff lock. My long term goal is to throw in some ARB's, but honestly I've done great with most everything I've needed to do with open diffs. And along with that air locker upgrade, I wanted to do coil spring spacers for a bit more lift and install 4.88's. That's a big project though and I have other things I want to do before that anyway.
For now it's
1. Longfields
2. Hella Ralley 4000's
3. Limb wires
4. New exhaust system
5. Winch
6. GPS
This list could be endless, but those are the basics I'm working towards still.

As I'm sure you've noticed up in Summit County, there's not much wheeling to be had until late spring, but let me know when you're heading down to the front range. Maybe we can have a Colorado ExPo get together...
I'd be game for hitting a couple of trails when you get in town next summer, too.

Upcruiser,
If you are in Boulder next Wed and have nothing to do in the eve, I'm showing a Slideshow in Louisville. Sounds like a couple of people from the forum will be there.
Slideshow will be on our Africa trip. 7-9pm with coffee and snacks (I think -- the city is a bit vague on that stuff.)
More info here:

Yeah, I don't have my Cruiser with me anyway. I'm driving my Silverado and I don't take it off road at all really. I'm up at the World Cup right now in Beaver Creek, then I'm coaching a DH camp on the Birds of Prey Course though Thursday morning. I'm then probably going to head down to Boulder to see a buddy of mine before I do my straight shot drive over to Minnesota. I might not have much time this time through. I'll be here the entire month of March too, and it worked out well with me bringing my rig out and getting some wheeling trips in during that period. I'm just not sure that I'll have it put back together in time. One way or the other though, it would be cool to meet up and I'm always game for a ride along! :D

Sounds like its going to be a pretty cool slide show! I would LOVE to come to it, but am busy with work untill Thursday morning at Beaver Creek. Is there a chance that you will post up some narrated pictures on your website that might capture some of the slide show?

Right now I'm working on a new web site. The one you see at www.africaoverland.info isn't really under my control (long story), so I need something of my own. I was thinking of putting up a separate photo gallery, but something like a narrated slideshow is a cool idea!
May be a couple of months before it is up though.

I REALLY want to go to Colorado sometime soon.
How come I keep getting "forbidden" when I click on the imagestation pic links?

That might work out well. I'll be doing some work in Summit County till about the 28th of July, then am tentatively planning on a week or so of wheeling/exploring. I'd like to focus on Crested Butte-San Juans really. It would be myself and my girlfriend in my rig, and would be happy to meet up with anyone else.
