I have a question for all the toyota guru's out there. I have my 85 4runner with 4.10 diffs right now and have an e-locker all set up and ready to put in. The only problem is the e-locker that was sold as 4.10 is actually 4.30. So I would consider keeping the 4.30 and swapping in a matching open diff in the front if I could find one, or Ill have to find a 4.10 e-locker which is more expensive. I was wondering what configurations of trucks and 4runners came with 4.30 gearing and had the 8" so I could find a diff for the front, and have better gearing to go to 31" tires.

I think some of the older trucks with auto tranny. If you're hunting through boneyards, look for the axle code G282.

I'd find a matching front diff...The added gearing is NEVER going to be a detrement in these older Toyotas with anything bigger then the stock 29" tires. Even 31's can tax a motor a bit and 33's DEFINATLY slow me down on the highway with the 4.10's. Still the 31's before it wasn't exactly "PEPPY" by any means. The 4.30's are designed by Toyota to match 31's specificaly so I'd say that's a good way to go eh ;)

Cheers
