First shotgun I've ever owned. I'm not a hunter, and do not need one for home defense, but now that I have one for other reasons, can't hurt to keep some home defense rounds handy. :sombrero:

The gun is absolutely ****ing fantastic to shoot.

Only $250

Yeah, fortunately the Turkish guys that made this gun realize not everyone is stupid enough to pay the price Benelli wants for a shotgun. lmao

I know, what do the Italians know about shotguns anyway?

If you laugh at the cost of a Benelli, you should check out Perazzi.

Can you offer an opinion of this against a Mossberg 500?

Thanks.

Sorry, but I can't. I've never personally had any experience with the Mossberg.

Love my Mossberg. Current setup is 16" barrell with a top folding stock and extended tube.

Now to compare. 500 is pump, as opposed to semi-. I personally prefer pump for tactical shooting... I have not hunted in years.

Barrel is short as well, assuming it is not rifled, since it is a Texas gun... effective range will be poor. All in keeping with a tactical setup as opposed to a hunting setup.

The stock looks very solid, which is also a plus for tactical shooting, unless carrying space is limited.

I would think that the shooting characteristics would be similar, with a hefty recoil, which is exagerated by the added weigh in the stock (extra rounds). This will be tempered by the fact that the maneuverability should be excellent, again contributed to by weight ratio of barrel to stock.

All in all... the configuration matters more than the gun for application. I like my Mossberg, but have never fired on of these... yet! :)

A bit of apples to oranges comparison, although certain platforms have every accessory imaginable for them and some hardly have any after market support... kinda like Jeeps versus Isuzus. I'm not sure you will find much in the way of support for this shot gun, whereas there is tons of stuff for the Mossberg or the Remmy 870.

I like this gun in its stock configuration. There is a lot that you need to do to a Mossberg to set it up similarly... $$$... its ONLY money!

I don't know squat about the OP's gun, but I will say that some of the guns being produced by the Huglu collective in Turkey are some of the finest being made currently. They easily meet or exceed most of the Italian-made production guns, certainly exceeding the quality of either Benelli or Perazzi.
As for handmade guns, they come close, but won't match the quality of a Fausti, Piotti, Bosis or the like.

The Huglu guns are handmade (with exception of the monobloc) much like the best of the "Best Guns". I wouldn't pit them against the finest British or Spanish best guns, but they are remarkable in their overall quality.
I have a couple of these bought primarily as field guns in 20 and 28 bore and they are both beautiful and very pleasant to shoot.

No need for a stamp.

No need for a stamp.18" for shotties 16" for rifles. Like most guns the chamber starts a bit back from the visible part of the barrel. Drop a wooden dowl down there with the action closed and it will be 18".

Yep. Got lots of these border line firearms. Still no need yet for an FFL, but may need one if certain laws get passed. The whole system is broken at this point. Too much research required for small alterations... blah, blah, blah... I;m gonna get myself all wound up over this stuff.

Maybe we could go shooting sometime soon, Wolf?

Great shotgun. I have the 18" smoothbore12g model. holds seven rounds. The only gripe I've ever had was the sling mounts that are far less than useful. A couple Uncle Mike's pieces fixed that, and it's been great. If you're lanky, you might be able to use the present stock; I'm a bit too short armed, so I've replaced mine with a Chate adjustable stock.

Wow! That is just AWESOME! So, going out on a limb here...is it a safe assumption that an FFL/Class3 permit would be reqired for one of these? Any idea of cost? Availability in the US? Me likey!:wings:

I think that would be a safe assumption, but the actual barrel length isn't too far over the legal minimums here, so you couls get it with a longer barrel. If you did it that way, however, you would have to register it as an altered firearm... which is just a different kind of tax stamp.

So you should be able to get it... it just may be as expensive as an MP5 with a threaded barrel. :sombrero:

The barrel lenght is 22.5 inches so I am confused as to why you would want it longer.

Wish it were a semi auto instead of a pump. Interesting with dual tube mags. Similar to the Swatriplex 18 of the 80s.
