Hi, I'm the Toecutter. Today, while looking for a place to steal petrol, I had the chance to drive a new JK Unlimited Rubicon.

First thing I noticed was there was plenty of room to transport the coffin of the Nightrider with the back seats down. This is good, because we can't have the Nightrider sticking out the back. We need to show respect for the dead, don't we?

Ride quality was fair as I drove across the wastes. With the hype, I expected it to ride like a Holden Commodore, and while it was comfortable, you could still tell it was a Jeep. It traversed irradiated fissures with grace and aplomb.

The power was adequate, but not more. It will be a suitable vehicle once the roads have been reclaimed by the Earth, but it isn't fast enough to sneak up behind a tanker. The torque produced by the 3.7L V6 feels fudged - as if the engine vibrations and exhaust note have been tuned to make the powerplant feel more ... truck-like.

To call these head rests is a misnomer. I will not rest, whether I'm reclined by the road side awaiting my next victim, or en route to the Halls of Justice to bail out a friend. These head bumps are a source of endless torment and great discomfort. The designers might as well have installed spikes to protrude into the back of my skull. Fortunally, my matted frock provides sufficient padding to compensate for this shortcoming.

The bloke in the pizza shop was very curious and intrigued by the Jeep ... perhaps he was drawn to the color red, the color of blood. I humored him, answered his questions, had my way with his pizza ... and then my crew burned the place to the ground.

I liked it alot.

If it wasn't for the internet, I'm afraid you'd be highly underappreciated Chris.

Thanks for the warning about the head bumps. :)

So is Jeep going to come out with a diesel JK?

They already are putting the 2.8 CRD in it for export markets, unfortunately it does not meet EPA emissions requirements anymore. Let's just hope to hell that they put the 3.0 Bluetec into it for the NA market. I kept waiting for the 08s with the hope that it might appear, but the rumour mill over on the JK Forums is that it isn't going to happen.

I love it :victory:

Regarding the diesel - it was new to me:

I was at a dealership last on Wednesday looking at a Commander and a Wrangler (going back to my hypothetical survey thread) and the rep had some interesting news. He said that Jeep just failed the Canadian emissions testing (again) on their diesels. Everything is off the table indefinately with the exception of the Mercedes powered diesel Grand Cherokee for August. Too bad...

Just as an update, this is that same Rubicon today.

This is 4" and 37's w/ some AEV hardware. If it was mine, I think I'd take it down just a notch to 3" and 35's, but it does wear the 37's very well and is dead sexy, I might add.

See, you've been trying to swallow the wrong thing. That price tag isn't oral . . . it's rectal. You take it up the butt.

Oh, and those 37" tires sure do look mysteriously skinny. ;) It looks great.

Good Lord F'n! Do you kiss your mother with that mouth? :shakin:

So..... why is that so many Jeep things are a pain in the butt?

Why that's the most insightful thing I've read from you Mark. ;) Just kidding.

This JK sure is one sexy baby! Wow! :clapsmile
