Does anybody know if the Sceptor jerry cans can be shipped to California? I've have emailed and PM'd Pangaea Expeditions that question but have not heard back. If they can be shipped to CA, I am going to order from a bunch from him - if I ever hear from him:littlefriend: . I don't really care if they are CARB compliant as I use a Super Siphon.

Kalifornia will not let anybody outside of the state ship non-compliant gas cans to Kalifornia addresses.

I don't think that there is a CARB compliant version of the Scepter. It appears to be a regular can that they offer:

"The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has approved new emission and spill-control regulations for portable fuel containers that came into effect in California on January 1, 2001. According to CARB, traditional gas cans account for about 87 tons of smog-forming pollution a day in California. This is equivalent to emissions generated by about 1 million cars.

Thanks. Apparently our lawmakers don't realize that the CARB compliant jerry cans really suck and leak worse than non-CARB compliant jerry cans.

Of course, if a friend of yours in Nevada bought some and had a garage sale and if you promised to him that you would NEVER put 100 Octane gas in them he might sell them to you if you took them back in your car...:rolleyes:

At their web site they offer a CARB compliant spout for the military cans. Buy just one spout and as many cans as you need?

No, you need to buy a spout with every can or they face a $10,000 fine. But on the other hand, I am glad I got in touch with them... I might be renting a roof top tent from them for a June trip.

Scepter does have CARB compliant cans... but they are not the standard heavy duty cans we are used too... they resemble a Blitz, thin wall, etc. Same basic dimensions...

Not the best pic... but you can see the red Scepter can next to the standard orange and green cans... its a light duty CARB unit.

The fine folks at Sportsmans Guide had no problem shipping three German army surplus jerry cans (and two non-CARB spouts) to good 'ol 95005, as long as I used them for display purposes only. Oh, did I mention the cans are $15/ea?

I currently use them to display roughly 5 gallons of fuel.

You are mistaken my friend. The same durable can as the green & orange in your picture are available in CA, they must be sold with the CARB spout.

I think that I already posted the CARB spout info but a couple of pictures may help.

They have BOTH the cheaper thinwall design that is CARB compliant as well as the mil-spec can with an expensive CARB compliant spout.

As a privite citizen, why would you actually use that durned thing?? A business might have to worry about a Kalifornia eco-cop writing them a citation, but an individual in the boondocks can just leave the spout in the spare parts bin of their vehicle.

They sell really clean (look to be never used) NATO cans. I run 7 of them and they don't leak a drop.

I agree. I was just hoping that somebody designed a leak-proof/spill-proof spout that actually didn't leak from day 1! Also, they pour gas at a molasses slow pace!

So I just got two of these, no questions asked. I'm going to clean them up and give them a nice spraycan paintjob to prevent rust.
