Any other XK owners out there? I'm new to Jeep and even 4wd so I'm looking for some inspiration. I've got a 2007 with QDII and trying to get setup mostly for back country family camping.

I almost bought a 5.7L commander last week. Just couldn't get them down on the price. I drove it, and the commander is really nice.

does anyone know how truly capable the QDII system is? I'm currently not lifted and on the OEM tires still.

The QD II system is great, have it in my Grand Cherokee. Takes me everywhere I want to go.

We (actually the wife) have a Commander. We love it. It goes where we need it to, and is quite comfy. It's been in the Swell, all over the Manti Lasal range here in Utah, the GSL desert, and now we use it to explore southern Utah as well. It fits my family much better and with more comfort than the YJ that I have for the harder stuff. Ours is still stock, but we plan on putting a Teraflex budget lift on it and some slightly larger tires in the next year or so.

Those look really nice! Those are the first modded commanders I have seen and I like the look alot. Kind of like a big XJ.

We have a MY08. It's a great truck. I like it's relatively small foot print for a 7 seater. It's quite agile for a 5000lb brick and drives surprisingly well on road. Quieter and more refined than I initially expected. Comfy too. And I love the classic design. It's mainly used for hauling the baby and dogs around, winter driving duties and road trips.

I might have to figure something out locally for a rear tire carrier.. Rocky Road lift gets here tue, but I'm leaving town wed, so I won't be able to install it until the end of the month.
Good stuff though.. hopefully I can play a little on my trip. I'm headed to Utah but we're planning to stay around Salt Lake City. We'll see if I get to test the 4wd.
