Howdy-

I have been very excited to discover this site and realize that lots of folks like to the kind of exploring/wheeling that I like to do. I love to explore the back country here in Colorado and Utah with my wife in our 76 fj40 named Maude.

I am going to be revamping her with another round of mods these coming months and I am really excited to post up the progress as I go here.

Currently as she sits:

1976 FJ40 4x4
Original Smurf blue paint.
85 fj60 motor
Electronic ignition
4 core radiator for desert travel
Red top Optima
ARB Safari Snorkel
4" TPI Lift
35" MTRs
Mini Truck P/S
Mini Truck Brake booster
Homemade swing out tire carrier
Warn 8270 winch
Car top Tent
Headers and 2.5 exhaust
Jim C. carb
CO2 System

For comfort and DD I have added:
Alpine CD and Speakers
Cobra CB with weather
Saab 93 Leather Seats
Tuffy Console
Dome lights
Carpet
Tachometer

Future build mods:
Rear disk brakes (for trailer)
Aux. Fuel tank (need to install)
Hella lamps (need to install)
Rock Lights (need to install)
Sliders
New front bumper with gaurd
Aux. fuse/relay panel

I will post up progress of the revamp for ExPo, any comments are always appreciated.

I have to interject, because Drew is just too modest a guy.

For those who don't know him, he is probably one of the best men i've ever known.

His cruiser is truely AWESOME. He talks about it like it's nothing special, but up close, it is BAD. (thats a good bad, for you old timers who don't speak the new slang). It looks killer, and runs even better, since Drew keeps it clean and with ultra regular maintenance.

Sorry to butt in, but had to set the scene for those who think maybe this is just another guy. I hope all of you get a chance to meet him sometime, you'll be happy you did.

Back to the build up....

Do you drive the white 110 with the propane bottle on the rear rack? There aren't that many out there.

If so, I drool over your rig everytime I see it. :)

Perry-

I am really hoping to make the triple bypass and the outlaws this year. I would love to do the GTR again, but I am traveling when it goes down.

Very nice FJ40  - there is no better feeling, like the top off/Bikini on while driving...

Thanks for all the nice words guys. THanks for posting a few more shots Ike!

Yes, wheeling in the West is about as good as it gets... in my humble experience so far. Utah is unmatched in my eyes.

Desertdude, thanks! Your cruiser's setup is something to shoot for!

And yes, top off, bikini top on, with red canyon walls on either side and dust in your teeth... PRICELESS!

:sunny: :victory:

More with the mods later.

Took a break today from building my trailer and decided to give my old fj40 some new love. :D

My lovely wife gave me some Hella 4000's for Christmas, and today I gave them a new home. I started with a bumper I had laying around in the garage for years, cut off the ends, welded them shut, added a hoop and recovery points and Whoa-LA!

I have the long version (http://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/197893-bumper-build-101-a.html) and detailed build up, over on mud.

Which aux. tank are you going to be running? I ask because I am trying to find someone that is running the 28 gal. MAF tank that goes under both seats, seems like a good way to keep the extra gas low and centered in the vehicle.

Trying to get the following done before Cruise Moab 08:

Finish my trailer! :D
Build some sliders.
Add a cooler rack to my tire carrier.
Hi-lift jack mount on spare carrier.
Install my 22gal aux tank.
Cargo/wheelin' box for the back of the 40. Hard mount my fridge.

So much to do, so few saturdays! :D
