You knew we were going to exclaim, "Great photos!" didn't you? Excellent work.

How about the story? Are you going to share some of the nitty-gritty here or in a publication of some kind? Either way, I'm interested.

Jorge,
Great pictures! Makes me miss Argentina more then before. When we were in BA last time I tried to meet with the Land Rover club. We were on a schedule to get to Concordia for a wedding and missed the opportunity to go with them to help work on a school.
Feel free to post any more pictures you have. The first Land Rover I saw was when I lived in Argentina in 1985. Since then I have not been without either a Land Rover or the desire to return to Argentina as often as possible.

Blair

Pure Beauty! You wrote "enjoy", but I think "envy" is the more appropriate word! Ah, but to leave my office and drive under a sunset like that!:D

Please do share more of the pictures if you get the chance.

Thank you all for the kind words!

I will be posting more pictures the soon I finish sorting out the best from around 3.000 plus pictures, and I will add some captions to them including the GPS info. I will try to write more about my just completed expedition but I'm a lousy writter!

FYI I purchased my first 110 TDi, 2006 last year in Santiago I got a great deal of US$ 29,000 with zero miles and this past february I got a 110 TD5, 2006 brand new for US$ 34,000. Normally the TD5 sell for US$40,000. FYI the TDi is not longer available in Chile due to emition regulations..

Also for you info I work with Nikon D2X cameras and carry around 10 lenses from 20mm to 600mm.

If some of you would like to come along in my next expedition (Brazil, Bolivia and Northen Chile) in July send me a PM.

Thanks again

Jorge

Yes, I always need to adjust colors, saturation, sharpness, etc.
I work with Apple Aperture, Nikon NX and for pixel tweeking I use Photoshop.
I'm not a good technical photographer and I really don't care that much for a perfect histogram in my photographs.

Some of the photos in the slide show above still need some adjustment..

A side note. DSLRs dont' need a UV filter since they don't pick up that light.
If you use a UV, it's suggested you switch to a ultraclear or "water clear" filter if you just want lens protection.

Yes, you are correct. I wrote that in the context of using a filter as a way of protecting your lenses.

Jorge, FABULOUS photographs and what an amazing trip.

I love that Citroen with the Hellas and roof top tent, that is classic. I'm so envious of the 110's, but seeing the 109 on the trip gives me hope for my 109 sitting in pieces on the side yard (also a 1971).:coffeedrink:

Thanks for sharing.

Jorge,
Your slideshow got the most favorable response from my wife of "I REALLY want to go on a Patagonia expedition now!!! :)"
So, how could one rent a Rover around Buenos Aires (we have free airfare to there) and hit Patagonia with a 14-20 day trip in late November of this year? Wife and 6 year old daughter in tow and we will have to travel fairly cheap.

Do you have any suggestions?

Many thanks for sharing your excellent photos! Forgive me for being more impressed with the pair of Citroen 15 CVs in the middle of your slide show, than with the Land Rovers! Did you learn anything about their expedition?

Wow, just saw this thread for the first time. Great photos as everyone has mentioned no doubt. The Citroen Traction Avants were awesome, snorkels? haha

Anyway, I travel to Chile every August and will be down there this year roughly from the 4th-15th or so. Are you in anywhere near Santiago over that period? Would be cool to get to see some stuff off the beaten path.

Thanks for posting up the slide show, I haven't been to Patagonia but i want to travel there so bad it hurts. Those shot are great teasers.

Sorry, I do not have any info about them.. only that they were 2 Citroen. I saw them (Citroen) very late at night park in front of this Hotel in Coihaique, Chile. The next morning gone! For sure a missed quite a story.

In the mid-20th century, France had colonies in South America, North and Central Africa, and in Asia. So the French auto makers got to work and built some cool vehicles for use overseas. Peugeots, Citroens and Renault trucks from the 1960's are remarkable in their ability to handle punishing conditions.

In Chile you see these Citroens once in while. A few years back I saw this politician lunching is campaing in one of this It was fully restored.. just beautiful.

The two in Coihaique were driven by four frenchmen ..That is the only
info that I got.

Sharky,

I very much appreciated your comments.. I visited your website when I was looking for info about Defenders.. At that time I was planning to buy a used one, but soon I discovered that in Chile they were only a few available. Then in 2005 the Volvo importer in Chile annunced that they will sell the Defender
and I was lucky to have the funds to get me a new one (I have two now)

Well, I think you need to make down to Chile we jump in one Defender and we drive around South America..

Saludos
