Has anyone ever blacked out the hood on a Wrangler. I am thinking of blacking out the center hump. Any thoughts or opinions on this?

I've thought of doing it to my XJ, especially since I have fender-mounted lights. In the end I've decided to paint the whole thing OD green this spring. That'll take care of the glare!

Do you think a flat black vehicle wrap on just that part would work, or do you have to actually paint it?

There was an e-bay auction for a cut vinyl sticker. to do just what you are asking about, Kinda pricey though $40. it covered just the raised center portion of a T J hood.

I would not mind pay $40 for the decal. It would make it easier to remove if I don't like the look. If there was still a little glare, I could always just paint the decal while on the hood.

Many guys are fearful of takin action in their own hands and spraying paint. Good for you for at least considering doing this. I have used rattle cans for many projects. Mask off the area, use some 800grit sandpaper to prep the area. Some like the sponge pager to do this, and then shot it with the color of your choice. I shot my previous Jeep's Zebra stripes this way, my CJ-7 Offroad Trailer and my 03' Rubi's stripes this way. Hey, I think it's the way to go to cover those deep scratches or body damages w/o alot of $$. If you don't like it-sand it off and shot it again! Cover you job with Clear Enamel and buff if out. It works! Use heat and lights to dry the paint...or live in Tucson.
Good on you, being bold enough to try something like this. A very good friend painted his Yellow Boy this way over a Chrome Yellow body. He never regrets doing so.
