Hi everybody!

I'm Richard.

I just bought a Jeep JK as new project truck as my old project just isn't the truck I thought it would be. I guess I have seen the light to the Jeep world and the huge aftermarket support that you guys have.

Here are a couple pictures of the new Jeep, well used, but new to me.

Don't really know where I'm going with this build yet as the aftermarket is very huge compared to the 05+ Tacoma market. I like a lot of the AEV stuff as its seems to be suited to what I want to do with the truck. I'm sure there are loads of companies I haven't even come across yet.

Anyway, thanks for any posts and welcomes, and hope to see some great JK's here!

Welcome to the Jeep and expo world. I too am fairly new to the Jeep thing as I've had my JK a little over a year now. You definetly have to check out the 2 main JK forums jk-forum.com or jkowners.com Jk-forum is pretty hardcore on the censorship as its paid for by vendors and sponsors and they don't want you posting or talking about non vendors..kinda lame but there is some good info on it.
Here's mine after 1 year ownership and a few dollars...

Welcome to the Jeep side of life. After 2 1/2 years of JK Rubi Unlimited ownership, still enjoy her like the very first day.

Welcome to Jk ownership. My girl and I just got our unlimited Rubicon back in July, so far it has been a great Jeep. We are new to JK's, but not Jeeps. Just have fun with it, build it as you go. AEV makes great stuff. I have the Brute top on my LJ.

My friend just started his own JK forum after he got fed up with the drama on some of the other JK forums. It is jkoutcasts.com. Welcome and enjoy your Jeep!

Good choice, awesome Jeep. defenetly get on one of the JK forums out there. people say JKforum is all rough and censored, but Ive been on there quite a while and have yet to see even one example of what they are talking about. Actually the first I heard of that type of JKforum slander was on this forum haha. But between expo portal and jkforum (or any other of your choice), you can have most of what you could need to find.

Congrats.

I have AEV suspension, bumpers and some other stuff on my JKU and it really is top notch.

Good luck and have fun!

go to jkowners.com

i got banned from jk-forum for posting a link to this site about the JK trans continental expedition. eddie (WOL) doesnt like anyone talking about products other than those that pay to be on his site. so its hard to get an honest opinion. this site and jkowners are the best ones for information ive found

Expeditionportal, Jeepforum, Jeepwrangler and JKO, covers the gamut !!

JKs are GREAT, but the neverending story and a money pit-just like a boat !

Great looking Jeep. Since you have the rubicon, you can also check out rubiconownersforum. When I had my Rubi it was a great place for technical info and the folks there are quite like the guys here, most interested in helping and seeing what you and your Jeep can become.

My 16 year old son and I have been wheeling and camping most of his life. It is in his blood and the memories are firmly rooted in my soul. It is a great past time for father and son. When the kid is behind the wheel of such an expensive, complicated machine, and it is teetering on it's tail end, and all he can see is sky and YOU are in the passenger seat, his adrenaline is pumping... you look at him and say... "Go ahead and bump it".. with a smile on your face... well let's just say that builds a trust and bond that might be hard to find elsewhere... Also helps him realize that the high he's getting cannot be beat by anything artificial.

Sorry for rambling, but kudos to you and your boy.

Thanks for sharing! My some is 5, loves the Jeep and camping so we will be doing lots as he grows older. Wheeling will keep him out of trouble (mostly) and its more fun than video games that's for sure!

Thanks so much!

Well that's a tough one. I like the Tacoma for the ride and the amount of gear that I could put in it, but I love the jeep as I have 37"tires and V8 power. An after market that has a huge number of parts available to me at any time with new ones always coming out. Right now I love the jeep as it just about goes anywhere and a lot more places than my Tacoma did as I've run some of the same trails with both and Jeep is much better. I wish the jeep had a bit more room for gear, but right now its good and I can always get a little off-road trailer for the really long trips.

good looking Jeep and welcome to world of never ending mods... Though you are in Canada, you may also want to check out Outlawed Offroad (http://www.outlawedoffroad.com). I am their "Regional Director" or mod with a title. They are a good group and most are in the same boat, small budgets, stock to mostly stock 4x4s and we are not make/modle specific either. Everyone there is friendly and will be more than happy to help answer any questions you may have. Just let them know "Bandit1" sent you over.
