View Full Version : camp shower heat exchanger
any idea where i can source a heat exchanger for one of these camp showers?
i can find em everywhere as a kit, but i feel that i can piece one together a whole lot cheaper than these kits sell for.

If you can do a bit of Fabbing. You might try a 6-8" steel pipe, Tap one "side" of it to allow you to place a small tranny cooler inside with the fittings coming out the 2 holes. seal and tighten fittings. I'd sweet talk someone into threading the end and buy 2 caps. tap each for a fitting which will be for your HOT water in / out from heat source. cold water in thru the T-Cooler and out to the shower head!!! You might want to valve the heat input line, for some temp. regulation.
Something like this is a bit spendier, but ready out of the box

they have another model and I'm sure you can find them at RV stores.

http://www.cruiseroutfitters.com/ carries the same unit as does Sierria Expeditions, which also carries a long line of nifty gear.

X2 on CruiserOutfitters, they have neat Helton Aussie exchangers, very powerful, just as good if not better than the frybrid hotplates, which would work great too...
