I'm looking at a 2.5 gen montero for sale. I think the guy would geek to $2k or so. It has 250k miles on it, but has a much newer engine with fresh timing belt and such. Also has new brakes, master cyl, and bearings all around.
What do you guys think? Would you trust a montero with 250k on it?

I bought my 96SR w/ 200K for $1500 about 2 years ago. Paint and interior were in good shape (barring the driver seat) and the engine was recently replaced with a used engine from a salvage yard. I changed all the fluids (engine, transmission, transfer case, differentials, coolant, etc.) did a timing belt (after 10k of driving). I'm now at 250K w/ no real issues other than just barely passing the CA smog check and needing the do my valve guide seals at some point (burns 1 qt every 300 miles :Wow1:) but even with that, she's been a VERY, VERY reliable rig.
I'd talk them down to $1500 unless it's in exceptional condition.
