Hello there!

So I caught the SMB bug a couple of months ago, and have been looking around at what is available. Unfortunately, I can't justify speccing out and having a brand new vehicle built, as much as I would like to.

Looking in the used market is a frustrating affair - the only machines that I have turned up locally have been over my self imposed budget, and they are few and far between.

I have found a couple of 4x4 camper setups, but somehow ... they're just not the same!

I have found a couple further afield, but am having real heartburn about buying a vehicle sight unseen. How do you guys get the confidence to drop a bunch of cash on a vehicle based off a sellers description?

Alternatively, anyone in the Bakersfield area want to take a look at a vehicle for me?! :)

Cheers!

I have bought many vehicles sight unseen, and always am pleasantly surprised on some things and disappointed on others. A long drive home is a great place to brew some buyers remorse, for something which wouldn't bother you on something local.

Spending the kind of cash involved with an SMB, I wouldn't hesitate to drop a couple of hundred to actually fly down and see it myself. No ones eyes are as critical as your own.

Unless its a new car from a dealer across the country, I always set myself a 10k sight unseen limit.

look at the link below to see if you approciate the SMB construction means and methods.

I was very surprised.

You may reconsider building up a base 4x4 van yourself.
