I've been on the road since 2006 and had several encounters with local pharmacists and their medication in Asia, the Middle-East and Africa. Lots of serious stuff sells over the counter without prescription for outrageously low prices.

Probably nothing new for those from the UK; there's a great reference book for deciphering medication bought in local pharmacy's in 2nd and 3rd world countries - specially when you can't read the local language.

The book is called the BNF - British National Formulary. We've been using this book many times since 2007 after seeing it with 2 overland travelers from the UK. There's a special BNF book for those with children too.
