Ok I do not know squat about Landys. SO what differentiates series 1 from 2 etc. What were the production years and major changes. Also are are landrover discovery till '96 considered a series 1 no matter the badging like se or what have you. I see series II really old landys for sale periodically but now see that discoveries get refered to as series as well. I assume the lingo is as the yota guys say Gen 1, 2, or 3 for say the 4 runner, but apply that labeling to the model of truck for Land Rovers

http://www.lrfaq.org/ This site should answer all your questions.

But to answer the ones about the Discovery real quick:
1994 - mid 1999 - Discovery I
Mid 1999 - 2004 - Discovery II

If you can't find what you need on that site, check out www.lrrforums.com.

Series I refer to the first production models up until mid to late 50s, then the Series II kicked in and I believe in 61 or 62 a few modifications made it become the Series IIa, which ran until 1971, then in 72 the Series III started production until the 90 and 110s started in the early to mid 80s, which soon thereafter became the Defender trucks. From the early 60s models to today's Defenders, there are parts that are interchangeable.

Now Disco's are Discovery Series I until 1999, then in 1999 (there was some production of both models in 99) the Discovery Series II started. Since the Disco's are far more common, usually if you see a Series II for sale locally, it would be a Disco (unless it is really old, obviously)

And if you see a series III, thats the last of the original series leading into the Defender in 1983.
