I know this is a shot in the dark, but there were some very cool looking, expedition-ready late model TLCs at the Boreas Pass parking area yesterday. Anyone from here? I don't know the specific generations but I think one was an FJ-80 and the other was whatever came after the FJ-80. Both were lifted, with bull bars and skinny tires, and I think they had snorkels.

Unfortunately, we were being devoured by the horseflies and the area was rather crowded so I didn't have time to ask around.

BTW, is there a good resource out on the internet that shows the different variations of the TLC over the years? My knowledge pretty much stops at FJ-60 and 62.

About what time? The Rising Sun (http://www.risingsun4x4club.org/) had the Ghost Town Run this weekend, so they may have been up there. They were supposed to go over Boreas on Sunday, so if it looked like a group of about 8 or 10 built 4Runners, pickups and/or Cruisers, my guess is the chance you saw them was about 99%. BTW, the annual GTR is hitting a few of the famous ghost towns, mining camps and places along the Colorado Mineral Belt for a state history, camping and light four wheeling trip.

Hmmm...Ghost Town Run? That sounds pretty cool. I was a history major in college so I always love anything historical.

There was a 4-runner there too, but it didn't look built up - don't know if it was the same crew.

Any of these trucks look familiar?

Actually, yes. The black FJ-80 with the spare tire on the back, I think that was parked one space down from mine (with an unmodified 05+ 4Runner in between.) I think there was also a white or silver FJ-80 there that may be one of the ones from that photo.
