just bought one tonight on ebay for $217.00 with the seperation kit. Should have it in a few days. I'm taking my tech test on thursday night so hopefully I will be joining the ranks this week officially!

I am unsure how important the cross band repeat of the 8800r unit would have been, but if it is something I feel I will really need down the road I can always upgrade right! now time to get an antenna and mount ordered so I can get an install started

Sweet! Dang, everyone is getting this done lately!
I'm waiting for my callsign to appear on the FCC site.

Sweet! I pulled the trigger on one of those as well. It should be here any day.

What are your plans for installation?

Space in the reg cab is tight so probably on the back wall of cab for the radio and then just above the rear mirror for the head. I have ordered a spring antenna but have not decided on mount location yet. Will probably figure that out in a day or 2.

Thats a nice deal with the seperation kit, Normally they run $250 plus the kit.
Good luck on the test. Keep us informed.

To even use it you need another radio and technically the cross band repeater as the 8800 has it not legal to use due to the fact it doesnt have an Ider on it.
I wouldnt fret it.
