I saw this in the Denver Craigslist :
http://denver.craigslist.org/car/352800754.html
and thought you'd like to know that such really DO exist!
Rare vehicles, to say the least.

Geeez, the fact that there are only 22k miles on the clock is amazing in itself!

I can't believe that it's only 5K OBO!

There's one at a car lot in Bishop, CA right on hwy 395. It's been there for years, bet that guy would sell it cheap. Pretty cool rig.

Ujointclothing - I sent you a PM on the one you've seen in Bishop CA....
Everyone else - looks like the Denver Craigslist one expired, here's some others that still work:
http://saltlakecity.craigslist.org/car/360250005.html
http://phoenix.craigslist.org/car/367802771.html - which is the same one as the Tucson one below
http://tucson.craigslist.org/car/386760430.html
I've been in contact with both sets of sellers for the expired eBay listings below, both are still available if you contact them directly:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1977-Blazer-Chalet-Pop-Top-Camper_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ50061QQihZ014QQi temZ330144855956QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

And be sure to check out the buy / sell page here: http://www.blazerchalet.com/cgi-bin/buysell.pl Some have long since been sold.....
And as I've mentioned in a couple of other posts in this forum, I don't recieve any compensation for promoting these public or private sales, I'm just a Chalet owner / nutcase enthusiast who wants to see them go to an appreciative home. Plus, I want to have more eyes peeled looking for them so I can round up more serial numbers, to get a better idea of how many are left and what condition they are in. More on that basic theme in this thread: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=90505#post90505

Ujointclothing was kind enough to drop by the place in Bishop CA and take a few photos of the Chalet that's been for sale for several years. Many thanks! Hopefully we can find a good home for this one.

Did you ever get in touch with them about what they want for it?

Ujointclothing,
No, not yet. I'm something of a cheapskate on long distance phone calls (I don't yet own a cell phone, which I assume comes with all kinds of free long distance minutes). I was going to send them a regular old snail mail, with the suggestion that they could list it in the blazerchalet.com buy / sell page http://blazerchalet.com/cgi-bin/buysell.pl
I also alerted the members of our Chalet owners' forum http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/ChevyK5BlazerChalets/ about it, one of the guys living about 150 miles north of it might check it out for himself.....

How about this latest eBay listing http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130162740162 One of the cleanest ones I've seen, says it's a "top to bottom" restoration......

Now that i finally have a home again and anew shop to boot the chalet will start getting torn down this winter as time away from the oilpatch allows....so i'll be spending some time here doing research for the modernization of the camper when it gets to that point as the K5 will be getting a body off and diesel power this time around. I'm pretty much sold on the 6.5L with a turbo and the 4L85E overdrive at this point unless at some point a 4BT falls in my lap for elcheapo...

Hoser,
Thanks for spotting the sfbay craigslist one, the seller had been renewing his ad occasionally and I hadn't seen the new link yet - and now, he's put it on eBay with lots more pics

HI all. Here is mine. I think they will bury me in it!
Has anyone seen a snorkel kit for K5 Blazers around. I should have gotten one when this model was new. Thanks

Never was a snorkel kit for the K5. Never exported to a place that it would be needed much like Australia.
Some people have have used a Snorkel off I believe the Toyota FJ80 or possibly the FJ60. The windshield has a similar rake.
look around www.ck5.com and there are a couple people over there that have them.

Welcome, what is your Chalet's serial number? I surfed across your photo in a different forum months ago during one of my numerous google searches for these mangy old campers, but there was no way for me to leave a message for you. Please consider joining our Chalet owners' forum http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/ChevyK5BlazerChalets/ it's a free sign-up, members get to use the forum to trade info & restoration tips, plus we have an ever-growing set of photo galleries. Grim Reaper & I are members, and 1976K5Chalet is the guy who got that forum started.
Of course, any of you other non-owner enthusiasts are welcome to join, too.

This is 1401. 9/76 Both Model year Chalets were built over 3-4 month period in the end of 1976. With all the 1976-1/2 modifications.
Mine has about 46K miles, 400cid TH350. Thanks for the link. I was over at Blazerchalet.com but they don't have a forum. I'll join the yahoo group after the holiday.
Strange about the snorkel. I have seen one many years ago. It was black plastic and went through the triangle shaped hole in the fender over the starboard wheel well. Then flush against the outside of the fender, then up the windshield.
Thanks for the welcome

Yep I have seen them but they were Toyota snorkels fitted to the Chevy. I think the one you want is for the FJ80. I know there is a couple guys on ck5 that have them. I was thinking one was stormtrooper but I found pictures of his truck and he doesn't have one. Yep the 80.

Somebody else did one of these and they pulled it in tighter to the body with a bracket off the windshield frame.

Yes Grim that looks exactly like the one I saw before. Thanks
77B-C I just found another Chalet in Hemmings Motor News. $26,000 Has 1 ton axles 38-15.50 tires winch and custom bash bumper. I must say that 12 inches of tire outside the fender makes the Chalet look much less top heavy.

One of the guys at our Chalet owners' forum owns the one in the Hemmings ad, photo below. Link here http://www.protrucks.biz/beforeafter.htm for before & after shots of that one and other custom trucks.
And, for those of you who want to go to a live auction for a somewhat lower Chalet, check out this link http://www.raleighclassic.com/new/inventory.php?pid=3 just scoll down the page a ways until you see it, the auction is Dec 7th & 8th.

That thing is hot.
The 38's are a bit tall, but the Road Armor type bumper and a lift with some knobbies like the auction unit, really set the Chalet off. Nice to see they maintained original paint colors. Wonder what's under the hood...?
I'd like to crawl around the interior and bounce down a trail in one of these someday.

Due to holiday weekend i am at a stand still for two reasons...alcan is
not open to bend up bolts until tuesday. And i pulled a Tim Allen and
tried to remove my right index finger lowering the chalet via air operated
bumper jack onto the new 4.10 equipt 8 lug ten bolt...lol. Off to the VA i
went for stitches....
So far the rear is stiffer than the 12B axle on 31x10.5's (15 inch) due to the extra 1000 lbs of sidewall rating on the 285/70R17's....the rear 14B FF is from an 81 K20 P/U so i found out the park brake cables will fit right into the stock mounts and be functional. Since i have to change the rear ujoint size i am pondering doing a 700R4/NP241 swap so all i have to do is drive shafts 1 time...

It's going to be tough to give up that marvelous garage. Break loose the bolts for the rear bumper extension while you're at it, if you still want to swap for my custom solid steel bumper with the receiver.
Man, if the Phoenix housing market hadn't gone crazy, I could be fixing my own Chalet in my own back yard now....
