I spent all night trying to resurrect this 1.5 year old camera. Basically, the lens stopped extending and retracting, resulting in an error code and then the unit shuts down abruptly. I disassembled it tonight, reducing it to a pile of circuitry, and attempted to fix it to no avail. It was so delicate, I felt like I was trying to disarm a bomb. I'm really bummed out.

This camera produced some of my all-time favorite pictures. I've not given up, but I'll definitely need to scrape together some cash to bring it back to life. :(

The S80 is a great camera.... seems to be a problem with Canon P&S and the lens not opening. I have two of the SD600s (long story) and have seen several SD series and s80s have this problem. Best I have heard is be careful when turning the camera off not the disrupt the lens movement in. Good luck.
