I try to avoid passing on the highway if I can. It is super dangerous on highway 1 to pass.

If the trailer had electric brakes (and the driver had the presence-of-mind) couldn't you lay on the brake controller and turn the trailer into an anchor?

Yes. By her comments it really sounds like she had no expirience pulling with a trailer. She probably let off the gas and tried to correct as well, which adds to the problem.

We loaned a trailer to a group of surfers doing a trip in Baja a couple of years ago. They swerved off the road to avoid an oncoming semi with their F250 towing a Horizon equipped with a lock and roll. They lost control and the trailer rolled over but the vehicle did not. They righted the trailer in a few minutes and continued on their way, a bit rattled but unscathed. I think the rotational coupler saved them from a potentially nasty accident by not applying a fulcrum to the vehicle and keep the tow vehicles rubber on the ground.

I have rolled trailers twice in off road scenarios and I am convinced that the Lock and Roll saved my bacon both times by keeping all 4 tires of my rig firmly planted on the ground

Wow that sucks.. im glad they're ok. Big lesson learned there for them. Thank god it didn't take someones life to learn it.
