There seems to be more and more mentioned of the Canning Stock Route (CSR). Has anyone on this forum done the route? I'd like to read more about this piece of Australia, so if you have any good links or stories you'd like to share, I'm sure others would like to see them as well.

I remember this thread from way back. I posted it on behalf of a couple of friends of mine that did the Canning and other tracks over a couple of consecutive years. Pretty sure you'll find a some Canning pics in this thread somewhere.

I have met a few people who have completed the route and seen a video on it. It's one of the most challenging routes in Australia. There are a few good books available from Explore Oz (www.exploroz.com) (this website is a decent resource for Australian trips by the way):

Canning Stock Route - Outback Travellers Guide (http://www.exploroz.com/Shop/DesignInteraction+Canning_Stock_Route_-_Outback_Travellers_Guide.aspx)

Canning Stock Route: A Travellers Guide (http://www.exploroz.com/Shop/Misc+Canning_Stock_Route__A_Travellers_Guide.aspx)

They do have some notes on the Canning Stock Route (http://www.exploroz.com/TrekNotes/WDeserts/Canning_Stock_Route.aspx) on their website as well.

I think you can order without being a member but not 100% certain.

Cheers,
P
