awesome - I got your confirmation today! I can tell you that many teams have not yet officially paid but confirmed their presence....that's include Persephone and I (not sure what vehicle yet...), Matt and Ralph, Dave (TacoDoc and his wife), Ponce and his Mexican friends, etc...
I am also talking tomorrow with a special guest that I am hoping can join us with his very special new "locally" vehicle being built near Phoenix...
:)
I am afraid that we will need to limit the number of entries to 50 for logistic reasons.
They are still plenty of time to register but as soon as we go "public" after Overland Expo, I expect to fill up quickly...

Guys
A bit more details. The Registration form is indeed only for registering, to tell us who is coming.
In order to actually pay for this amazing event, please go the Expedition Portal store:
http://store.expeditionportal.com/
Don't forget however that the fee increase May 1st. But we understand that plans change, and I don't want to keep everything as simple as possible.
So there will be a discount code available at Overland Expo (email me if you need it) and the entry is fully refundable should you change your mind.
thank you guys - I should have more exciting news in a few days!

Cant wait, we have 2-3 teams ready to participate. Guanajuato or as we call Planet GTOROCKS has some amazing rock crawling trails (from extreme to mild where even a 2wd rig can crawl). :sombrero:

As you can see, we are planning some optional offroad adventures around Guanajuato...!
It can be very relax of you want to, but we will make sure to have a very well filled adventure Rally for those who wants to push their limit!
This offroad park is an example. We are hoping to have a “Special” at that location where people can drive to, do the "special" or just be a spectator.

Christian,
Tried to register this morning, but the link for step 2 on your website tried to go to www.expeditionportal.com/store instead of store.expeditionportal.com - and so broke.
When I went there manually, I filled in the form, but then the connection to paypal brok and it dumped me out...
So, we're coming, but haven't paid...
Cheers,
Jay.

Hey Detslider,
Sorry for the late/tardy reply. I didn't see your response come in. We're not sure which route we'll be taking as yet. We'll just ship to wherever is cheapest at the time and drive from there. Thanks for the offer of some US-hospitality, very much appreciated. We can't wait to be State-side again. :wings:

I just looked at the registration list on EventBrite and it looks like we have 20 teams officially registered, not counting the ones I know have not yet signed up (like myself, Jorge/Marcos/Mark/Suna/etc...)
I will contact everyone one by one to confirm that every team is still on board.
If that's the case, it looks like we will need to up the number of vehicles a bit...as we would already be full!!!
This is going to be quite an adventure! Hurry up if you are on the fence abount joining!

Great news! I have heard back from most teams and so far pretty much everyone is still in and super excited about the rally!
So we are close to having 25 teams already – the most popular type of vehicle being used is 4x4s so we’ll make sure to include some fun offroad challenges.
I hate to think that I may have to refuse registration(s) but I really need to have a final count soon because I need to start ordering plates/numbers and make final camping/logistics/party arrangements.
I think it’s already pretty awesome to have 25 teams committed to drive in Mexico (and even beyond in some cases!) for the End of the World and willing to take a chance on the very first edition of this crazy adventure!
Who knows what this may turn into over the next years...
So if you think you may be interested in joining, please register asap - we will officially have 30 spots available with a few ones reserved for last minute registration.

Cool to see the participant list published.
I was going to go in the truck but decided it was too high-profile and would be appealing for banditos during our pre and post race wanderings.
Though now I see a Rally Fighter and a yellow Land Rover on the list so maybe it'd blend right in.... :)
We'll probably go in the Subaru WRX though my wife's little Kia Soul is appealing; it holds more cargo, has more ground clearance and is uber low-profile.
If I go in the WRX what class will I be in 2wd? 4wd? there is no AWD class....
Is there anybody else in the 2wd class?
What will the Lada be classed as?

Ed, would you be able to send a picture of your Land Rover?
Detslider - right now you would be the only one in the 2wd class but I think we will get at least another vehicle. Not sure also where the Rally Fighter fits...
Remember this is not going to be a race - I mean by that speed is not an element of the rally per say.
We are putting together a really fun scavenger hunt that will take you on many locations between Guanajuato and Bacalar, from the mountains to the beach. The distance to cover in 9 days is about 1600-1800 miles, so about 200 miles a day depending which route you decide to take and how many locations you want to hit from the list.
Since this is the very first time we are putting this event together, I am sure we will have many surprises and adjustments along the way - but no matter what it's going to be a lot of fun.
