Australian overlanders Kym and Lyn Bolton have returned to North America. The goal for this trip is to travel across the northern USA to New England, then south past Washington DC, through the Appalachian mountain states to Florida, and finally, along the Gulf Coast to Texas.

In late April, the Boltons flew from Australia to Canada, and picked up their EarthCruiser camper from friends who live near Calgary, Alberta. They drove south to Wyoming, and east to Devil's Tower NM, Mt Rushmore NP and the South Dakota badlands.

Post up if you meet the Boltons on their journey this Summer.

I don't think so. They're in the Great Lakes region now, and headed east.

Just looked him up and it appears they're in the northeast somewhere.

I dropped him an email inviting him to San Antonio. Would like to meet him and see that rig of his!

they appear to be at a campground on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. Hopefully they will tour the Appalachian chain on their way down to Washington DC.

Maybe the Expeditions 7 team will cross paths with the Boltons. The E7 trucks are supposed to be at Cape Spear, Newfoundland (most easterly point of land in Canada and USA) sometime in the next week.

On second thought, the Boltons rarely stay long in one place. They learned of the Trans Labrador Highway, a gravel track completed in 2009. Now their route will be:

"...St Barbe [Newfoundland] ferry to Blanc-Sablon- Red Bay [Labrador], Battle Harbour, Goose Bay, Churchill Falls [home to the second largest hydro generating plant in North America] and south to Baie-Comeau [Quebec] on the St Laurence River..."

Just got an email from Kym...

They're having to store the rig around Boston and expediting a trip back to Australia due to a serious family illness. He hopes to come back soon and get it to the jump-off point for the next leg.

Please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Kym and Lyn Bolton have returned to USA. Their EarthCruiser camper was retrieved from storage in the Boston area. ExPo readers on the East Coast should keep an eye out. The Boltons are driving south through New York, Pennsylvania and Washington DC to the Appalachian mountains. Follow their journey here

And just like that, Kym and Lyn Bolton have completed their swing through the Southeast. In the past few weeks, they visited the Appalachian mountains, watched a Nascar race in Atlanta, visited Graceland, camped on the Louisiana bayou, had their Mitsubishi Canter serviced in Dallas, and drove west across Texas.

Now the plan is to turn south, traveling through Mexico and Central America to Panama. This part of their peregrinations is expected to take about three months.
