How do you guys with Xterra's mount ammo cans in the cargo area?

FlyingWen has an ammo can all ready to be mounted, but I am unsure as to where and how to mount it.

Quite awhile back I was at a Army surplus store and found the actual locking mounts for ammo cans. They were pretty sweet. If I were you I would look for one of those. They hold the ammo can down very securely, and have a release so you can take it out when needed.

If that isn't an option, then I would just bolt it out of the way in the back cargo area. Make sure to silicone the holes, that way if you get an exhust leak(say, right side manifold crack) it will not come into the cabin.

Wil,

What are you planning to keep in the can and how large is it?

It will be the recovery equipment... It is a good sized box... not too sure what size it is since it has been painted a la FlyingWen sytle (to match the seat covers). It is about 10" tall, and 16" long off of memory.

you can use the child seat anchors in the back if you arent using them for FlyingBaby. There is one about 9 inches from each wheel well. I used them to anchor down the floor of my new cargo system. (I think im gonna get some of those track mounts too.)

Or, if you look to the right (in the bare floor area) there is an anchor there. Two bolts and they are threaded into the floor. You may need longer bolts. You may want stainless steel, because they will be exposed to weather under the vehicle.

I drive a 4X4 with a shackles, winch, sliders, and underarmor.... I wanted a little "girlie" touch.
Flyingwil painted it!

It's pretty... pretty cool I mean :jumping:

Ok... now we really need at least a pic of the can!

How about using some of those track mounts that you sell?

This is not a pic of the finished product, but you get the idea.
See it matches the seat covers....
