On a 110 used for Overlanding/Expedition in southern Africa. Using a roof rack for a RTT and other gear.

How important would you feel to have an external cage similar to the one on Graham's 110?

the external cage seen on all NAS spec defenders like the one you speak of were installed to pass us DOT saftey regulations. so if big brother knows whats best it must be best right?

I would advocate the roll cage as a good attachment point for your roof rack and associated weight. The standard top on D's isn't really smart to support more than 100+ lbs.

I would say go for a rollcage. Those Landies fold up like tin foil. I've seen many bad wrecks.

I'm doing a cage but you can choose not to.

Even with a cage the D's are pretty "weak in the roof"
