View Full Version : Ahh, Yes! Corbeau Comfort
Well Gang, Awhile back I was snooping through TTORA and found these Jewels for Sale. Corbeau Sport Seats, Grey and 300 Bucks takes'em. Driver side has the "you pump it up, Lumbar Support" and finally they were in Oklahoma. Needless to say I headed north and picked them up today. Man. they are great...you don't realize how sad your stock 01 Tacoma seats are till you plant your butt in these. Hell, I pulled over in a Rest Area and swapped'em out, the 3 hour ride back was bliss...Tu Compadre, Suty

Sweet. Are those designed to be a bolt-in replacement?
Seats are one of those things that people often overlook as an upgrade. When you think about it though, its pretty much the one thing you use EVERY second you're driving the vehicle. I can't understand why some people put those crappy, no padding, one-size-fits-all, plastic "racing seats" in their project vehicles. Don't skimp on the thing you'll use the most!
I put some Beard suspension seats in my buggy. Damn they're nice. I could take a nap in them easily. I can drive around all day and get out feeling refreshed!
Nice find Suty! You don't happen to have a model # for those seats, do you?

Agreed. That was the first thing I did to my '85 pickup, swapping out the seats and the last thing I would do to my T100. Somehow Toyota has made some of the best & worst OE seats out there.
Cool seats Suty. Those look like a perfect match.

I was interested in those seats as well, so I sat on some at the 4x4 Expo at Pomona. They just did not work for me. So, I checked out the ones set up just next to them. PERFECT! And, of course, they were the really expensive ones.
Next time, I hope to spend some time really sitting; the stock Taco seats are OK for about an hour, then my back starts to hurt.
Suty, I'm glad they are working for you. Good deal. (And to think, I have family living in the seller's town. PU could have been as easy as a few phone calls.)
Side Note: I am enjoying the good cheer shared amongst this community. We celebrate the good fortune of others. Somehow, this is just the way it should be.

Thanks Everyone, BB, They are the Sport Seats on the Corbeau website...FrgTwn, posted a link to them. I have the sliders which are for 95-99 Tacomas, from Corbeau also, and they fit fine. All I know is they make a Huge Difference in Comfort. Tu Compadres, Suty

Congrats on the seats. I'm thinking new seats may be more important to me than I let on to myself. With my wife's injuries, and my sore back, it should really be a no brainer.

They are the Sport Seats on the Corbeau website...
Suty,
How does your seatbelt work with these seats? In my Tacoma, the female part of the seat belt is bolted to the seat. Can you take a few close up shots of where the seat belt clips in now?
Cheers ,

These are the cloth/vinyl ones. Those are about $300 each normally. The brackets for my truck are somewhere in the neighborhood of $100 each. So getting the pair for $300 saved somewhere in the neighborhood of $500! Good find.

Ah my Friend from the North...The seats have a mount on them to allow you to remove the Seat belt connector thingy from your seat and bolt it to the Corbeau's. Mind if you have a center arm rest console thingy you will need to weld them or use bolt with thin heads so you will not continually gouge and scratch your center console. I will try and post a few pic's for you tomorrow my friend. Tu Compadres, Suty

I've my corbeau leagcy or LG 1 seats for about 3 years now:
http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o215/saltytaco/photo9.jpg
In hind sight I should've just got your model.
Here are some general commets:
Pro:
Cames with factor bracket for direct bolt.
Stylish and very supportive
Cons:
Seat belt end buckle needs to be relcoated hardward not supplied. For safety, I used grade 8 bolt nylon lock, and big washer. i dont know if it compromise the safety of belts.
You lose the back sleeve/pocket on the stock seats...which was the perfect place to store maps.
Beacuse the corbeau seat bracket are lower than the stock seats, you lose area for storage underseat such as for amps. But this could be a pro for taller people since they'll have more head room.
The fabric that come with seats are soft like felt but stronger. Its a nightmare for people dogs. Its like a velcro for dog hair.
Because the thigh holder thingys, stick out pretty good, you'll have watch how you get in and out your truck so you don't clip your goods.
You also lose the auto recline and slide forward mechanism for the passenger side...which comes in handy for extended cabs and when you want to put something back there and you only have one hand free.
The inflatable lumber suppor doesn't hold air. Better off with lumbar pillow.
Keep in mind the leagcys were the comfort seat but the padding is still a little too stiff for long drive. But these seats do hold you in place in any offroad condition. My seats were recommend for people with waist <34'' but they also have a wider verision.
Corbeau has made some improvements with their fabric.
I think the best seats are leather sport 4 runner seats but they are so hard to find.
