View Full Version : ExPo Decal font?

I was wondering what font has been used for the ExPo decals that were made earlier? It looks real nice. I know of a decal maker at a local mall that (hopefully) can make one for me.
I would like to know the font type and the dimensions used if anyone knows....it would be really appreciated!

That should be more of a asking permission type of question. PM one of the mods (expeditionswest) or the fella that made them previously.

Ditto. I'd appreciate some details as well if possible.
While one of the guys kindly offered to send me one, it's much easier and cheaper to just make one here. By the time a sticker gets through the post and the exchange rate it's very expensive in ZAR's (South African Rands) for what it is.
And then there's our suspect postal service down here. 4WDTrips sent me stickers twice and neither batch ever arrived.

LA, hes been waiting forever for the sticker person on the board to make them. He put in a order and its been a long time. Seems like it will never happen so he's taking it upon himself to have one made. No harm in that. There have been two people that have made them for the board members.

Yup, that's me. My supplier simply stopped responding to me now. So I'm having a real hard time getting decals. I'm doing the best I can since I don't make them myself :(
If someone else wants to step up and make and sell the decals, I'm open to it. But I don't think Scott will support just anyone making decals for this site themselves.

Hmm....I hope Scott would. I really don't have the time or means to embark on making/selling these myself when I only really want one decal.

If it was simply ExpeditionPortal.com, what could be the harm?
I could understand not wanting to say anything else like: "ExpeditionPortal Proves GPS to be a Myth" etc. :)
Perhaps we should have an icon so that fellow ExPo'ers can recognize each other without the verbiage!

There is not only a community, but a brand and look assosiated with ExPo. If everyone makes the decals in the same way, I'm sure it would be fine. But what happens if someone decides that they want it in comic sans font with a little Calvin charachter peeing on a Ford symbol?
I guess what I am trying to say is that if someone want to create decals with the name of this site on it that is fine. But you need the expressed permission of the owners of this site first - namely Scott.
I sold decals in the past because there was a need and I did my best to fill it. I consulted Scott prior to doing anything. At this point, I would love to be able to sell more decals, but my supplier just isn't responding to my e-mails... which is very frustrating for myself and everyone who wants decals. I wish I had the machine to do it myself, but I just purchase them and sell them with only enough markup to pay for an envelope and shipping.
With that said, the icon idea is interesting.

Not to be rude, but this is a case of common courtesy. Ask Scott before copying his intellectual property. This forum didn't grow on a tree: it took a great deal of time and effort to make it the resource that it is. We should all repect that work. You might want to read this thread:

Just my $.02 worth.

Absolutely I agree 100%. That's why i brought it up here first before acting on anything that would be inappropriate.
I also sent Scott a PM asking his input on this.

I agree. If it is just a matter of showing your support / membership and it is just the name some is using to "advertise" the forum, I can't imagine anyone having a problem. Intellectual property really becomes an issue if someone is trying to make money on the name without an agreement with Scott.

I am not a sticker maker per say, But I do produce some for the Ford SuperDuty crowd. They are International labels that are domed with polyurethane. They look 3D and are just about indestructible. Check out the web site and look at the pictures too. I have been selling these from this web site for about 3 years. Its more of a hobby than anything for me. Maybe I can help??? Set up with Pay Pal too.

Haven't been hassled to date... Don't spend much time on the freeways, no need to going to/from work. Do get looks from hybrid owners... The day I put them on the local PD (Oceanside) was pulling over drivers for failing to stop at a stop sign by my house. I pointed to the stickers/ he smiled...
PM NymphoTaco over at TTORA if you'd like copies...
Or PM me here and I'll provide you with her email/paypal address...
