With Allison hunting now, my son tagging along and my wife talking about taking up hunting it was time to replace my old ladder stand with something better. The stand is basicially a 6' x 6' platform raised up on larch 6x6 posts about 12' to floor height. The walls we prebuilt in the shop building and set them on the platform when it was ready. The siding is reject larch log siding we had left over from the sawmill days, and the roof is sheeted with metal roofing. We even put a porch on just because we had the material for it. The windows tip to the outside so that you're not banging into them when they're down and you do have struts in you're way if the were propped up. Furnishings will include to stools and a propane heater so my wee lass don't get cold.

I'm not getting old and soft, it's for the girl. Really it is.

Looking good! No shame in wanting a comfortable place to sit! :)

Heck if it were me and I had a little girl, I'd put in two heaters! Nice looking stand.

Nice stand, it was really about time you replaced the old model. Last time I saw it I said to myself "There is no way in H I'd climb up that!" Now you can stay warm and fuzzy until the fuzzies come your way.

Well I hated to get rid of the old one, to many good times in it, but it wasn't up to "code" anymore and like Jim said it was getting a little worrisome. Here's some shots out the window. Yesterday the fuzzy heads would have to been standing darn close to the stand to be seen cause the snow was laying so heavily on the trees.

Well thank you Tacodoc. We like it. My Daughter and I had a great season hunting in there even though the buck she shot ended up being taken from another stand on the property. No worries though, primitive blackpowder starts the day after Christmas and since Allison's tagged out I can go and play in the stand now. I let a bunch of deer walk during gun season just so I could use the tags for muzzleloader.

Thank you sir, it's great to hunt with the kids and pass down to the next generation the traditions of their family. Besides Kids should know where their meat comes from and how to harvest, skin and prepare it for the table. Breeds self sufficient thinking and independence that will serve them well way into their adult lifes.

Great job passing the tradition on Haggis. I have tried to get 2 son-in-laws interested in hunting and fishing and 2 grandsons with no success. I still hunt pretty much alone at 60 yrs old since most of my friends still have to work.
I have a new (18 months old) grand daughter that I am going to make into a "tough chick" to go fishing and hunting with me...I hope.
Thanks for passing it on!:wings:
