Yeah it was when they fitted those Landy bits and pieces that the trouble startedhttp://emoticons4u.com/fingers/fing21.gif

Spike
Any thoughts on getting a newer vehicle donated to these guys?
What would a used Hillux or Isuzu 4X4 cost in good condition? Anyone in your 4X4 club got something suitable for sale?
Anything we can do from this end?
Cheers

You could probably get a good late model used truck for about ZAR 150k. What's that in $? Under $20k ?
A good condition old model double cab SFA Hilux would maybe be about ZAR 80k
For new you're looking at ZAR250k to 350k
Judging by what they're currently driving, a ZAR 50k truck would be a blessing.
If you guys are keen to pass the hat around I'm sure I could get the word out to find a good vehicle to fit whatever budget you come up with.

A few ideas;
It would be nice to support them through a registered non profit here in the USA, any donations would be tax deductible.
We could contact them and see if they have worked with any organization like this in the USA before and use them as a method of sending funds. (I'll e mail them)
We could see if our "own" ACF could send them the money on our behalf.
Talk to Desert Lion Project and see what their vehicle needs are, and if they have any type of budget in mind.
Ask Spike to look for a suitable vehicle.
I'd suggest a mixture of straight donations, blind auction, donated services and goods to raise the funds.

The Land Cruiser Club of Southern Africa (LCCSA) are busy working on a plan to get these guys a replacement vehicle. Step 1 is to decide on the best package to suit their needs then we'll work on a fund raising project to get it done.

The plan to sponsor a replacement vehicle for The Desert Lion Project is going ahead. It will be a Land Cruiser Club of Southern Africa (LCCSA) project with some help from the WWF and Toyota South Africa.
If you guys from Expo are still keen to contribute to this fantastic cause please reply here. If there is some interest I'll make arrangements to get the banking details posted here.
Go check the link in the first post again to remind yourself of the good work done by the Lion Project.
