Wood/coal stoves are not uncommon on boats, some with cabins about the size of an RV.

Saw an ad for a Mercedes 508d camper in Scotland recently. Had a traditional pot belly woodstove in it with the stovepipe angled out the side of the van. This set up looks downright futuristic compared to that.
