Well some of you have been following my crew cab build in the full size and domestic forum.

This is phase two of our Alaska prep build.

Kristi (my wife) and I have been planning on heading to Alaska for about a year now so last year I took on the task of building a rig that I thought was capable of making the haul from Portland Or. up to Homer Ak.

You can read all about it here...

http://www.expeditionportal.com/foru...st-gen-cummins

For those that dont want to read it all, here is a pic of the close to finished product.

Here is the finished product of lots of planning both in my head and with the guys at Three Feathers in LaGrande Oregon. When talking with these guys originally I was going to do all the frame and tube work and have them build the camping portion but when we started to get into the planning Dave at Three Feathers was totally up for the fab work and did an awesome job.

We wanted a smallish trailer that we could still get out in the weeds with so I penciled everything out and met with them a couple times to make everything work.

All said and done there is a laundry list of really cool stuff. Here are a few highlights.

15 Gallon on board water storage tank
On Board propane hot water heater
Outdoor shower
60x 80 sleeping area finished with a fantastic fan 12 volt lighting 110 volt outlets and satelite hookup
kitchenette area in rear with 12v pump hot and cold water and storage
12 v lighting above cabinets and under cabinet lighting
1.5" DOM tubing for the side steps and diamond plate top plating
spring over 3500# axle
2x4 .120 main frame rails and cross members
adjustable front hich with Pintle option
On board battery
Dual Propoane tanks
1.5" aluminum rack on top
Flush rear trailer support stands
Flush front trailer foot
15x8" Black aluminum wheels
33x10.50x15 BFG All Terrain tires

So this is the start, I am adding on some parts and pieces, spare tire carrier, outdoor shower curtain and changing area (finished that last night).

Ill try and keep this updated as I make more progress. We are taking it out for the first outing this weekend. Should get some photos of it out in the woods tomorrow.

I would highly suggest talking with the folks at Three Feathers, they have never built anything like this before and I think they did a beyond outstading job on it.

I hope we can make this a sticky, to use as a research thread for those who are shopping for a small "sleep inside" hard sided camper.

Please don't post pics of home builds, roof top tents, or tent trailers, unless the tent trailer also has a hard sided sleeping area (eg: Tvan).

A link to the manufacturer's website would be useful if nobody has already posted it. Also indicate if the trailer is available in the USA. You can post images from other sites, but large hi-res pics that you personally took are preferred.
Thanks. JD
From Overland Expo 2012:

Track Trailers Tvan, Australia market only I think. I have been lusting after this one for about ten years.:

I don't have a large pic of the "Assymetric Link" suspension, but I found the following online. This design is used by the Australian military. Unlike a regular trailing arm independent suspension, this one maintains really good tire contact with the ground during turns when the body rolls.

http://tracktrailer.com.au/tvan/

From Overland Expo 2013:

Moby1 XTR, Utah USA. I was told that this trailer has a user added expedition rack and side rock guards. The exposed terminal strip under the center of the frame is also owner applied - all Moby 1 connections are hidden within the battery box.

The front mount looks a little light to me, but it is reinforced. The greasable Heim joint is way cool and uber strong. I would like to see some way for mud and debris to get off the suspension arms - does anyone know if there is a large opening at the rear of that flat plate? I didn't look closely there. There is an adjustable anti-roll bar to reduce the body roll that you can get with an independently suspended trailer. I don't know why the parking brake cable isn't in its bracket....

I would prefer an angled front to those forward mounts (like SoCal Teardops - see pics below) - it would deflect large immovable objects and also provide good protection from grit and water intrusion for those joints..... Plus I would rather have flush grease Zerks, not those vulnerable long ones.

This rig has no water tank - it would go behind the axle, tight up under the floor.

Note that the Heim joints are not positioned correctly - they should be symmetrical and vertical inside their brackets, not twisted. These will quickly wear grooves inside the mounts.

This early trailer has no trim along the edges of the inner wood hatch panel, as do later models.:

My wife Jac (shown above with her CaneMasters fighting cane) and I love the XTR. I especially like the extended frame ("running boards") which reinforces the fenders, so you can climb on them, and for the extra mounting space and splash protection they provide, and for their ability to deflect tree trunks or other low trail obstacles.

http://moby1trailers.com/
Here are a couple of galleries of fully equipped XTRs:

This one is built with rough pine. Too crude looking IMHO. Plus the hardware is marginal. Other woods are available. It has a very quiet diesel forced air furnace.

They are also developing a flip top model:

Having owned a marine grade aluminum trailer for a decade, I have to say that they keep their looks if not used when there are harsh winter deicing chemicals on the road, but the material does not flex and any un-bushed holes in the alloy can wallow out easily. Fatigue cracking is a possibility if the trailer is used hard. Maintenance is generally easy. You can polish the flat surfaces to a fierce gleam, but the diamond plate areas are sharp and will destroy your rag and fingers. Buyer beware. Aluminum is not for everybody.

This company used to build boats and has now branched off into trailers. I think there will be a steep learning curve at first, but they are worth watching.

Picked up an old trailer made out of a 1940 Chevy bed. Luckily the original rear end was already replaced with a straight axle. The wood is all trashed and rotted, so I plan on tearing it down to metal and building this. The top is a small truck camper shell that I already have. When I'm not camping, I can pull it off and use it to haul stuff. I plan on making the lower part of the trailer only 3' tall from floor to top, then the camper is about 2' tall so I will have about 5' of head space. When money permits, I am installing solar panels on top of the camper and running lights and plugs inside it.
The rear door of the trailer will be removable so when I'm hauling stuf the cabinets won't get in the way.

I've been enamored with RTTs for the longest time but just could never justify it as i felt that having one on the tacoma alone wasn't worth it. Plus no place to put my surf boards : ) Also figured this would be a great way to learn some metal fab skills. Fair warning , this is my first project that involves welding so don't expect any good looking welds. Here's what I ve done so far.

I thought it was about time to create my own build thread and document the things that I've done, the things that I plan to do, and the many problems along the way that I have or will have. I've been reading through many threads here have found things in every one that have given me ideas or answered some questions that I've had.

April 30, 2013 - I picked up this '66 m416 trailer. Drove about 6.5 hours to Buffalo, NY to get it and back home. 13 hours of driving in one day may seem like a lot to some people just for a trailer, but when there's a good one that far, and none in between worth much, the drive isn't that bad. I did get meet up with some friends and had lunch at one of my favorite restaurants in the Buffalo area.

Here it sits ready to drive home.

Everything except the rims and tires was hit with an epoxy primer. The previous owner had plans to build it up, but due to certain cirumstances, had to sell it. It turns out that he lives between Buffalo and Colorado and happens to spend only about 2-3 weeks at a time in Buffalo. This time, timing was on my side.

For the most part the tub rails are straight. I really don't notice it when it is behind the truck. I am quite happy with it. Lets see... What do i have in store for it.
(in no particular order)

- SOA
- Hard Lid - (ordered from cascadia vehicle tents NOTE***Bobby Culpepper is a great guy to work with)
- Wheel adapters so i can run matching wheels to the truck (ordered from www.motorsport-tech.com)
- AT lunette to receiver hitch adapter (ordered)
- Maxcoupler (ordered)
- Wheels/Tires
- Tongue extension
- Fuel can mount
- Spare tire mount (maybe)
- Paint to match truck

There are probably a few more things that I will think of to do, but for now, this is what I can think of off the top of my head. The tow rig for this trailer is my '03 LX470. It's slightly modded :sombrero:

Tonight i will post more with questions I'm having and hopefully some of you can steer me in the right direction.

Here is my write up on the expo trailer ive been working on for the last 5 years. It started out as a Ford ranger body
and frame. I then welded on a tongue and front frame. Installed a set of 3 in lift blocks and made my own coilovers. It was used mainly to haul our camping and fishing gear for a couple years. 2 years ago i installed the snugtop and decided to convert it to a 2 person camper. I put a sleeping platform with a matress from a pop up camper, a small shelf and an led light. I also installed the rack on the front where i mounted a 6 gallon water tank from the same pop up. It has alot of storage underneath the sleeping platform. I put a set of 30 inch Mastercraft courser m/ts on Ford rims. I think it looks good overall, works well for the terrain up here and has held up well thus far. I also installed a small table for part of our camp kitchen on the right side of the trailer. Im also using my ez up awning for now until i come up with an awning for it. Here are some pics.<a href="http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=161805&d=1368887955" title="Name: 0418150911.jpg

Hey guys, just thought i would share with you my build as it progresses over the next couple of weeks as i start to get ready for a 6 week 15,000mi ish road trip from south florida to Alaska and back.

I decided on buying a trailer after doing a 17,000mi trip thought the US last year in my 2008 FJ cruiser with a Ironman RTT. With all the gear loaded there wasnt much room in the truck even with the rear seats removed. I'm hoping that now with the trailer it can free up most of the truck and i might even be able to put the seats back in. After looking at Many Trailers new and used i decided on a used AT Horizon as they have a great track record for reliability and toughness. I trolled the expedition trailers for sale section on here for a wile passing on a few that were posed until a 2005 horizon with a globetrotter tent installed came up in Kansas city. The trailer had light usage and the exact tent i wanted. After a few conversations with the owner the deal was done. The next thing was working out how to get it from KC to South Florida.
http://www.expeditionportal.com/foru...enture+trailer
The old owner was super cool and was willing to hold onto the trailer for a few weeks while i worked out shipping. I spoke with many many people and couldn't find anyone less than $2k to drive it the 1,500miles from KC to Ft. Lauderdale. I eventually spoke with Mario at AT and he put me in touch with their driver who delivers the new ones and he just so happened to be dropping off a new chaser near by in the coming weeks. I ended up paying a little over 90c/mile for him to tow the trailer down and he did so quickly and efficiently and the trailer arrived in great condition.

I'm a Private yacht captain so i have done all this while at anchor down in the British Virgin Islands. The trailer was delivered to my local 4x4 shop to get some modifications done. First on the list was adding a rear swing out and Led lighting from AT, Mario hooked me up with and was able to send up in there new chaser and then transfer across to my Horizon for the trip down to FLL saving me some $$ on shipping.

Also on my list of Mods to do straight away is:
-paint/ Linex the trailer Black to match the truck.
-Tires wheels to match my FJ
-Add Aux reverse lights (rigid dullys)
-Add under trailer LED Rock lights (Tantrum)
-Add 2nd AUX battery. I have optima dual battery set up in truck any suggestions on batteries for the trailer?
-Add solar regulator and 120W Power film foldable solar panel. Add clips to Globe trotter cover and fly so it can be secured by the grommets in the solar panel.
-Power inverter in the nose box
-Rotopax on top of flip up lid
-12V power in the tent to charge phones and run 2 marine fans and Led lighting
-Add a 5lb fire extinguisher inside the nose box
-Add a rechargeable 12v maglight to nose box
-Add an extra 12" to the receiver by welding.

I also want to put some draws in the side boxes i've seen a few people that have custom ones. Does AT offer a kit or should i get my carpenter to make me some?

The trailer arriving in Florida:

Ive finally gotten around to kicking off the transformation of my better halves once loved and well used camper. Its been in their family for the last 30 years, ten of which have been in storage up in the farm shed.

We were talking of buying a trailer when the farther in law said we could have their old one. I took one look and knew it would be a great base to work with.

It started life as a backyard build, then had the tradesman's top put on. Its done two laps around Oz so its proven its build quality. This thing is solid I mean bomb proof. From the chassis to the tub and storage box design everything is folded, seam welded and robust.

Some of the positives are the long drawbar, strong chassis, storage boxes, suspension and same track as the Triton. The biggest downfall is weight, rust and worn out electrics.

Here's some snaps of the weekend we picked it up.

The full length chassis.

The basis of this rebuild is to make a self contained trailer that will house all the items required to setup a modest base camp. It still needs to be small and nimble for offroad use. Features getting incorporated into this build will include:

- rack to carry the KTM
- boxes fabricated on top of base
- the LHS box door to run full length of the trailer. the RHS door to be a length of 1450mm + a door of the remainder.
( this will facilitate access to the clothes storage etc once the tent awning was zipped on )
- all existing locks to be changed to lockable T handles to match the new boxes.
- dust seals fitted as this will be an off road trailer.
- frame made to hold RTT ( Roof Top Tent), height adjustable. Ability to mount an awning also.
- rear draw system for lower storage area
- swing away tire carrier for spare
- 2" receiver for rear of trailer
- levelling adjustment jacks
- water tanks fitted 2 x 80lt
- gas bottle holders 2 x 3.5kg

:D

This past fall I purchased a 14 foot PWC trailer off Craigslist near Pittsburgh.
The trailer is a Hercules brand and is a simple little trailer.

My father and I share a 19 foot Grumman white water keel aluminum canoe we call
"The Battle ship" we both are getting older and dad does not have the strength he needs to
lift it onto the hauling vehicle.

So this is where the trailer came in. We went to look at it and dad was not sure it would work as planned.
I said don't look at it as it is now, look at it as what is will be.
$150.00 later and it was hitched to the truck on the way to my house.

I took off the bunky boards, crank and bow roller and sold the lot on craigslist. I welded up a new bow Vee block post, and two Tee bars to rest the canoe on while traveling and did a spring over to gain some height. Dad thought I would keep the canoe right side up but I told him It would be better hauled so it would not hold water or need a cover. I also painted it RED my signature color.

We used the trailer to the end of last year and it worked out well.
It is easy to load and fast to strap down.<a href="http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=160326&d=1368229439" title="Name: 411161E5-6B95-4DB3-9E48-0779430C0AC0-3122-00000208874349D3_zps274efb6a.jpg

I've got the design fairly figured out, but am wondering how guys prep the trailer for the lid. Do most put a square channel over the trailer tub lip, to set the lid on?

Can someone please post the dimensions of the top of an M416?

Anything else I should be thinking about, in regards to M416 lid design?

Lid will be similar to this, but with a square end cap on each end.

OK, I'm going nuts! A few months ago I got an M416 that needed a little love to get it useable. Turns out that sometime during its life in the Marines and Forest Service, someone swapped out the axle with an M416A1. Of course I had already rebuilt the axle before making this discovery. I also discovered that the new M416 e-brake cable I ordered from Jeep Parts is the wrong one.

There are no M416A1 cables on any of the normal Jeep parts sites. I fear that most get yanked and tossed into a scrap pile during axle swaps. So... I am hoping that someone has a descent M416A1 e-brake cable assy and the mounts that secure the cable casing to the frame underside.

My question is how do you carry fuel on your overland trailer? I already have a 3 gal. roto pack fuel can that locks to the mount. I am still planning on using it.
I have run across a good deal on a 15 gal. aluminum fuel cell that would fit perfectly on the tongue of the trailer that I am gathering parts for. It would be a permanent mount with a inline fuel pump. Is this a bad idea? I am looking for pros and cons of a set up like this. I think I uploaded a photo of one like I found.
Here are my thoughts…….
Pros:
It holds 15 gal of fuel
It is hard mounted to the trailer and would not easily walk off
I can fill my tank or yours with a hose that would run from the trailer on the trailer.

Cons:
Do I need 120lbs of fuel on the front of my trailer?
(I am guessing fuel weighs about 8lbs per gallon)
It will be next to my duel battery set up.
Due to the shape of the tank It will not go anywhere else on the trailer.
Not easy to get fuel to a location that I can’t take the trailer. (Not sure if that will be an issue or not.)
I am unsure of any issues that would come from the shaking if you will of the fuel in the tank.
(The tank is vented and has a locking fill cap. It was in the back of a rock crawler buggy.)

I'll make this one short, it started with the need for a small light trailer to pull with a 4cyl jeep a few years back, I built a fully aluminum trailer to go tent camping with, unloaded I'd approximate it at 250lbs with a 1500lbs axle. This year I wanted to get off the ground and maybe a little less setup time.

Started looking at commercial tent trailers, all of them are crazy huge with all the bells / whistles and way overweight, I did find a couple companies in the USA that made light alum basic tent trailers but once brought to Canada with duties and various other costs it would be as much or more than the bigger tent trailers. Never mind I live in a city with limited space, since I already have a trailer that I wouldn't get rid of I didn't have the space for another one. Left with little options I started dreaming up a tent add on to my existing trailer that with some quick work I could remove the tent add on and put it back to trailer mode.

I figured out the max space that I could build up by using a platform with wings, then located a tent that would fit the design.

Had a few problems, nothing that I couldn't fix, a couple headaches but overall I'm happy on how it came out, first test run will be next weekend.....not doing anything insane, but it should be a good test of it.

Future plans, I'd like to look out for a better tent, maybe canvas but this should be good for at least a year. I'd like to setup some led strip lighting and connect it to the battery/power inverter box that's mounted to the tongue. Lastly grabbing a solar panel to keep everything charged up would be nice.

Height:

Same as before, but say raised the side wall height another few inches?

Lid:

Would you prefer....The multi angled lid that matches the bends in the trailer, OR a flat lid like the Manley's and Ruger's, OR a rollaway supported tonneau cover like the "Truxedo" tonneau covers for truck beds?

There will be a rack with a RTT'S mounted on it, and a tailgate....if that makes a difference in your judgement.

For any and all help, thank you!!!!

I need a new axle, my OEM spindles are shot and I was just quoted $400+shipping for one with electric brakes and EZ Lube and nothing else. That sounds outrageous, what did you guys pay or should I just have a new spindle welded on? Not sure if thats a good idea on an off road trailer.

The cabinet on the door will be used for lighter kitchen and food items.
I too will be adding water, and have spent much thought on it. Just have not decided what I want to do/spend money on just yet.

Guys.

I'm remodeling the living quarters of my horse trailer. They are about 12' long and 8' wide. I moved the kitchen from the side to the rear wall of the trailer. The propane is currently supplied via black pipe under the trailer with soft copper stubs going to the other appliances.

My question: can I simply tee at one of the other appliances and use this line to route propane to the rear of the living quarters?
I need about 25' just like this. Is would be routed along the floor and in existing chases. My question is with so many warnings and ideas floating around the web I'm very confused about what is and what isn't ok inside RVs or at all.

Thanks for any help.

My trailer has a tailgate so a reciever mounted one isn't the most convenient. And I have water/fuel and a cooler mounted on the tongue so a carrier on the front of the trailer isn't my first choice either. A swingout of some sort makes sense I think. I'm also looking at whether or not I can fit one underneath the trailer.

Anyway, please share some photos and experiences. Thank you.

So I come to realize that even with one of the largest truck campers on the market my storage space is limited. Having no space to carry extra gear like the kids toys, mini bike, ice chest for food and drink longer than 5-6 days, BBQ smoker. Usually when we camp we get enlisted in cooking for the group so extra kitchen equipment.

So I looked for what I had available on limited funds and this is an old trailer built by my grandfather back in the 60s it's been almost everywhere in Arizona during the 60s 70s and 80s. It is 4ft wide and 6ft long. It has some small draw backs. No suspension what so ever and it used an old solid beam axle that has old firestone 5x16 tires on it that are now trashed. I priced new tires and they want $185 each they are old school tires that are now specialty tires. I looked for other wheels and that would mean a wheel with zero backspacing in order to fit once again driving the price up.

I took inventory of what I have and found set of trailer tires and an old jeep axle and some wheels that will fit under the existing box very nicely, how ever now we need a new frame and leaf springs to tie it all together. I drew up some plans and did some pricing. I figured the cost to be around $200-300 including new lights safty chain and hitch coupler. When along came this beauty.

I scored this trailer for $175. It is the rear frame section from a 70s ford shorted pickup. It has a 9in rear with 31spline axles. Brand new LED lighting and saftey chains.

The plan is to pull the 9in axle out and sale it to recover some money, the tires are trashed and my trailer tires are too narrow to mount on the existing tires anyways so I will be swapping my D-35 axle in and doing a spring under conversion to drop the hight some. Drop my grandfathers old box on the back and add a rack on the very front for fuel cans and water storage. I will also be hooking up a parking brake to the trailer to aid in keeping it from rolling when not hooked up to tow rig. Future plans will be adding flat fenders, bed lining the whole box, making a lid, and water storage under the frame.

I've been coming to the conclusion that I would rather build up a trailer than keep piling gear onto my daily driver (02 Tundra). It would also be much easier to just leave it ready to go in the garage.

I came across this today. It's a 4x8 single axle with a 2990 GVWR and 400lb curb weight. Spring under axle, 14" tires. Priced at $650.

IMG_20130506_150425-XL.jpg

I'd want to enclose the sides, install some kind of lid or cover.. I may even go to extremes and put a slide in camper on it if possible or attempt to build my own.

I have been considering other options such as one from Rugertrailers.com but I also move alot and could really use something more like a utility trailer.

Would this be a good starting point or should I be looking at other options? Thanks for the help.

Took delivery of our KimberleyKaravan on April 15 in Los Angeles, and drove it cross country to Atlanta with stops in Tucson, Guadalupe Mountains National Park and Carlsbad Caverns National Park. Since it was all highway miles across the US, we used our Audi Q7 3.0 TDI for the diesel fuel mileage. Off-road tow vehicle will be an MB G500. It tows like a dream up to 80 mph in Texas, even with strong (30-35 mph) crosswinds.

Currently getting it finished out with items not installed in Australia, as well has repairing far too many defects and glitches in the unit. It's almost like they have no Quality Control before sending it out the door.

Plans are to use it for some shorter shakedown trips here in the Southeast, and a longer trip to CO, UT & AZ in the Fall. Maybe we can schedule a Kimberley Owners Meetup, including both KKampers and KKaravans. Ultimately, we'd like to do the Alaskan Highway.

The trailer originally had 2 2x3s running the length of the deck with plywood over the whole thing, supported by the frame rails and the two boards. Of course, as a travel trailer, the flooring wasn't designed to hold much weight at any given spot, so I'm not sure that design would work as a utility trailer. Also the trailer was originally about 3' longer with a very heavy steel square tube bumper that I cutoff and (unfortunately) recycled a long time ago.

The axle is a 3500lb 4" drop axle and is reversible to a 4" lift. I don't have a welder and do not know how to weld. I am trying to put very little money into this trailer.

I would potentially like to be able to put my 8' slide-in camper on the trailer. Or mount our camperette on it. Or ...? Like I said I don't have a clear vision for it right now. But it is build it or dispose of it time.

My questions is: How would you deck this trailer?

Hello all, I just wanted to share my trailer mod with you. Not to brag, but rather to inform some who may still be on the fence about such a build.
Many believe that a dump trailer/angle iron trailer is not strong enough to withstand the rigors of off-roading. I am here to dispute such a claim (for the most part).
I fully understand that this trailer may not be able to withstand MOAB or other such intense terrain, but I guess we will never know until I make it out there to try.

I began with a standard 4x8 texas bragg dump trailer:

And in a nutshell, chopped 2ft off the rear, narrowed a dodge caravan axle, attached, supplemented the frame in select spots with additional box steel, angle and unistrut (yes, unistrut), and added diamond plate truck tool boxes for storage.
My plan was to make a cost effective (cheap), lightweight trailer that would satisfy my need for additional storage on and off road.
Make no mistake, this was a PITA to assemble due to the metal prep (downside to using an existing trailer) but it did cut down on cost. I truly feel that modifying existing is more challenging than building from scratch. Just my opinion.
Though she is not finished, I came up with this in two weeks for around $675 total. (thanks craigslist)

behind my Rig.....

questions?

Big purchase today. Bought a CND M101 trailer with a RTT off a forum member. I won't get it until I go to Vancouver in June - but hey never too early to start a build thread! - right?... but seriously I can't wait!! Am so excited!

Won't do much to start with.
- Change out the tires and the wheels so they're close to matching my JK (at least size wise).
- Extend the tong a bit so I can mount gas cans and a box for the battery down the road sometime - and hopefully still open my JKs tailgate.
- Figure out a way to have some sort of counter top mount off of the side - this will probably be my first mod, as I'll need somewhere to setup my stove.
- Change how the lid opens so that it opens from 1 side (currently opens to the front). I know I first thought from the front would be better... but with the RTT, I can see that being an issue to open the lid when it's deployed. Where as it wouldn't be if it opened from the side.
- Painted to match the JK

No real rush for any of these... but that's the starting list. Eventually I'll get an awning, do a springover, have a swingout spare tire mount, plumbed water, and a hot water setup. Will start with a portable one for this summer, but would eventually like to plumb it all in.

Here's a picture of how it sits now. I'll post a picture of it and my 2012 JKU once I have it hooked up :)

I have a towing question for you guys. When I tow my MBT it walks from side to side. It happens if with an empty trailer and I am on the interstate at or driving above 55mph and hit a bump, or change lanes. Then it just sort of dances from side to side. The only way I have found to get it to stop dancing is to tap the brakes, or slow coast until it stops. Then I can accelerate again and all is fine. So far this happens when it is empty. I’m picking up a load of free firewood today so I’m going to see if it repeats this dance when full.

I thought at first it might be the short wheelbase of my Jeep (TJ) causing the issue, but I towed it with a Grand Cherokee and it did it again. If I stay under 55mph I don’t seem to have any issues, even when going over bumps and such.

Any thoughts as to what might be causing this, and/or what I might do to correct it? Besides not drive over 55mph?

Hi all, just wanted to post a quick thread about my new purchased 2013 jumping jack trailer.
This thread will be a very slow going thread as the initial purchase price has not allowed a lot of wiggle room for funds for upgrades. But I would love to get some feedback from guys around for their ideas and if anyone has/ had one where they made improvements. I know there are not a whole lot of guys on here with them but I have found some.
One thing I won't be changing is the wheels and tires. I have two different tow rigs so bolt matching the rims pretty much is out of the question. And as for bigger tires and a lift its more of the deal as we have bought this to haul out quads. (raptor 660 & 400ex. -Or a arctic cat 4x4) so I have no interest in driving a sport quad up a higher ramp then what I have already. Here is a pic from last Friday night at pickup time.
Most posts with some of the options and plans for mods coming tomorrow.

My electric breaks do a weird thing that I can't figure out. If I connect the trailer it says connected and works great for one use of the break and then it says not connected. It never returns to connected until I either cycle the ignition switch or un plug and rep plug the trailer connector but then it just does the same thing. It says connected and works once then goes to unconnected status. Do you have any idea where to look?
