Hi,

it is about time I buy my first G! I actually will be posted in Rwanda for the next few years (which is very, very cool!) and I am now looking for the ultimate car to buy. We are a family of 5, and other than taxi around the kids during the week, we will do explorative week-ends and longer safari - trips in the region (guesthouses / hotel and very sporadically camping). (and maybe something more ambitious in the future).

So, I saw this truck for sale, and I was wondering if it would be a fair choiche? It is a long 300 TD, year 2000 with 160'000km for 22'000CHF. Anything triky to look for before buying (main services, etc.)? Plus, what are in your opinion the basic (basic!) works to do "back home" before exporting the car?

http://www.autoscout24.ch/de/d/puch-g-s ... id=1555015

http://www.auto24.ch/puch/g-modell/4485907

I am actually fascinated by the G, it seems to be an easer daily driver than a Defender and I am also aware that is basicaly more expensive than the other 4X4s around.

Tks in advance,

Good evening all! Looking for some expertise here again amongst the experienced. After a LONG run of Land Rovers and Land Cruisers a G is finally in my future. I just finished building up an LR4, and once it was all done the wife latched onto it and I haven't driven it since! I have always, always, ALWAYS wanted to build up a G, and I now have the chance to pick up a nice, CLEAN low miles '09 G55 AMG. I don't want to run into the same situation I did with the LR4 and be stuck running 20" rims and BFG AT KO's or something similar - I would REALLY like to run 18" rims, but just wanted to check and see what the general thought is on this and it's feasibility. I know the G550 is a "better" platform to start with, but this truck has sort of fallen in my lap and with what I have in it I could easily do ORC springs, new shocks, bumpers, sliders, etc. and de - bling it along the way. Those of you who have gone before me please chime in - is it feasible? Will 18's fit? If not what are some good options?

Thanks in advance for any advice - I am incredibly excited to start this project!

Call 503 three three three nineteen sixty six for more information. Sale price: $23,500.

City-tough gwagen for sale. This G was "found" a couple of years ago here in Portland and has since had a lot of work done with the running gear. Since 2010 when I purchased it I've done interior/exterior body work with a new paint job and some accessories. Below is a detailed list of recent upgrades:

1.	617A diesel engine from a 1985 300SD California Edition. The car was broadsided and had ~125,000 miles on it. The intent was to keep as much of the SD's engine supporting pieces in tact (radiator, etc). At the time of the swap out there was a recent adjustment of the valves done on this motor. I have put about 5,000 miles on it since the new motor.
2.	Tires -- 2005
3.	Exhaust system replacement -- 2008
4.	Driveline straighten and balance -- 2008
5.	Transmission rebuild -- 2008
6.	Wheel bearing kit front -- 2009
7.	Flush and patch fuel tank -- 2012
8.	Paint job (MB Onyx Gray color 721) including replacing passenger and driver foot floor boards, rhino liner interior base -- 2012. There is now zero rust on this vehicle. $10.7k
9.	Front brake caliper rebuild -- 2012
10.	Dual RedTop battery installation with wench -- 2012. $3k
11.	Trailer lights setup (us version)

Included are the wench, the original vinyl carpets (now replaced with Rhino Liner), a stainless steel brush guard (painted black) and a pair of Recaro seats with all needed hardware for installation.
