Hello and welcome to the forum!

Broken Arrow is one of my favorites.

In Oct. I know that on the 8th some of us will be trying to see some of the Rally cars that will be competing in the Prescott Rally . And on the 22nd, some of us will be doing the 4th annual DeSoto mine trip, which is on the east flanks of the Bradshaw Mtns. south of Prescott, AZ. If you are interested in either of those, let me know. On the 15th, I will likely be on a trip with my wife. October gets booked up fast :D .

Good luck with your BA trip. Being in Oct, I bet there will be some people definitely up for that! It is a perfect time to go.

I just got shot down by the wife on the idea of entering her Outback Sedan in the rally :(

The website doesn't have much info....where can we go to watch this thing?

And....

I'm always up for a little Broken Arrow run if I'm in town....

Baja, funny you mentioned the Desoto mine trip, I was just thinking of doing a run up there in the near future. I love the Bradshaws and the Senator Highway and that whole area. Is there room for one or two more vehicles on this trip? ;)

Welcome also to Lionsbreath. Broken arrow sounds like a good time, but will not be able to make it that weekend. I am not sure if my rig will be ready for Broken Arrow that soon. Perhaps next time or another trail in the near future. :wavey:

datrupr, the DeSoto Mine trip is being hosted by Mark (Crawler#976) and I think there are still probably 7 or 8 spots left open. This is the same trip that you expressed interest in at 4wdtrips.net. He also posted it at Yotatech. However, if you don't think the Trooper is ready for Broken Arrow, I wouldn't take it on the DeSoto trip. There is a potential for rocker panel damage during the first part of the trip. I'm not saying you can't do it, just saying the potential is there. (Lionsbreath, sorry to drift off topic).

Back on topic, I just ran Broken Arrow today. Totally impromptu! I was just passing by, and Uwe (whitethaiger) was riding with me - we were returning from the Keen canyoneering expedition... and I realized he had not been on that trail, so we did it. I noticed the front side of the "gatekeeper" obstacle has been filled in a bit, and so has the first big step to the first slick-rock area (bummer!) and also another optional line (big step) on trail right shortly after that. Still a gorgeous trail though.

I will be narrowing down a time for the broken arrow trip here with in a week or so. Thanks for the threads. Sorry some of you will not be able to make it, but I am sure we will meet up on a trail sometime.

Yeah Baja, over the past 15 years the tour companies have filled in a lot of the obstacles....why...dunno, but it's still fun; just allows less capable rigs in!

I know, but I meant these were the most filled in that I have seen these particular spots in the past 5 years. I surmise that the Jeep tours can't or don't want to take as much time to train their drivers, so made the trail more tame so they could just "point and go"? I dunno.

Yeah....that's exactly what I was thinking....After a few brews and some Ed Abbey literature...maybe a "deconstruction" party?

BT,
Let me see what I can do with the Trooper by then. You suppose with some spotting damage could be minimized? I do also have those stupid step bars that might help protect the rocker panels. What do you think?

Take the side steps off before going.....or during, if that's your choice ;)

Otherwise you should be fine.

The steps will probably get munched. Then again, I have seen those protect rocker panels too, sacrificing the steps for the rockers (be aware they will be bent though). It just depends on how sturdy the steps are and what the situation is. However, I am not leading the trip - Mark is, so it would be best to direct your inquiy to him. I would just send him a PM at 4wdtrips or ask on the trip thread. In the past he has usually pre-ran the rock section to be informed ahead of the trip as to what rigs will make it through. The creek bed has likely changed since the heavy rains we had this summer.

Hltoppr - have you been there since the rains?

Haven't done the trail since this spring. Chicken Point to Llama and Bell Rock singletrack is pretty chewed up, so I can imagine it's a tad washed out in places.
