Just thought I would post up some of my better photographs of my Hummer Experience now that the H1 is no longer in production.

Myself, Dave, and Clarke - Doug (Lynch Hummer) Driving. Amazing what you can do with one of these trucks when it is not yours. Doug posed for the photograph and then drove thru.

I just hope they keep making humvees so I can get parts! Nice pictures -- that shot of the sma slantback coming down the reaper has always been a favorite of mine.

End of the H1

Thanks for posting - love that "Baja 1000 camp spot" photo. Being in Southern California have you ever dropped by American Hummer? Terry and Lynn have become friends of the family. Outside of my brother and myself they're the only ones who've had a wrench on my brothers H1. I've spent a lot of time in the back alley of Terry's shop fixing my Rover on the way south or back north. There is only so much you can do in a mall parking lot and I know Terry will entertain my wife until 3 o'clock in the morning while I work.

The H1 will be missed. The list of suitable long distance rough terrain load haulers is getting shorter all the time. Thanks again for the photos..

Hi Henry -- I checked out your site and it's the same one I happened accross a few years back. I love the idea of removing the seats and sleeping accross the rear tunnel. Lots of other really cool mods on the hummer. Nice trucks.

I've never been able to meet Lynn and Terry in person, but spent time on the phone and ordered lots of stuff from them. Wish we were closer -- good hummer mechanics are hard to come by. I'm still learning.

Yes, I have been to American Hummer. Great people. Lynn spent a good hour on the phone with me about a month ago regarding a couple of 2 door Hummers I was looking at purchasing. Unfortunalty, after the long talk and a look at one of the trucks I decided to pass on the purchase. There use to be a group of guys called the outlawhummer. They had some great backcountry setups. Most of them were built up by American I think. I keep trying to go to that website(www.outlawhummers.com) but it looks to be down and out. I sure miss the Hummer(H1) group. It really was a scream to go to the events.

Clarkes Hummer sure is nice to look at. Everytime I see it I am expecting the UPS man to jump out and give me a package.

I think Clark is (or has by now) completely rebuilt his truck with a new engine (might be a cummings?). I almost bought a spare t-case from him, but I need new tires first. Met him in Galmis last year...his truck is really nice (they only made 39 slantbacks for civilian sales).

since this is the appropriate thread...here are the production numbers by year. It's interesting how few there really are, especially compared to the H2's and H3's being pumped out at 40,000 to 60,000 units per year.

interesting that none were produced in 05. Maybe because of the war demand?

H1's are cool machines. It is a bummer to see these great trucks go away.

I think in '05 they were re-tooling for the Alpha model with the duramax/allison combo. One on the reasons they were available in the first place was to keep the factory open when we weren't "getting our war on". They've been so busy cranking them out for the past few years, the civi models definately took a back seat. The war, changing diesel standards, more stringent DOT standards, and the sky-high price set by GM killed it. I miss the basic models of the first few years of production ('92 -'94). They're about as close to humvee as you can get -- lighter wieght, 4300 lb payload, no computer, and priced in the mid $40's. Sweet!

I need to get out to one of the events and show y'all what a chrome-less dirty hummer looks like.

Look at those numbers. I like the 691 2006 Alpha's. Looks like there maybe a little light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe I can pick one up in a couple of years when the price drops to about 75K. Thanks for the input.

Check out this very early sales video -- I'm guessing it's from the mid 90's. I'd never seen it before. There's some cool wheeling and interesting info in it. Remember none of the hummers in the video have lockers, it's all old school btm. They are right off the showroom floor.
