I've used birch plywood laminated with a textured phenolic film. It's used in UK a lot for making trailer floors and flightcases. I had to seal the edges to stop it delaminating over time but it's...
I had a similar problem getting Sika 221 to bond a shower tray to a plywood base. No ammount of cleaning or surface prep did anything. After several experiments, I worked out that wiping the plastic...
looks nice, but if I'm being pedantic it's not a Vario. The grill and lights show it is the pre-96 T2 model.
This photo probably belongs somewhere else but anyway:

This is what happens when a fuso gets covered in water...
To cold for work on the project Steinez? If it's anything like the UK the workshop will be freezing
It's where all of them are disposed. Any other dealers selling recently cast British military vehicles will have bought them from Withams, either directly or in a tender sale.
Thats a good idea, if you do it carefully they'll look like coach bolts and someone fidelling with them will get confused when there's no nut on the back.
Thanks John! I may buy an extra base...
I've had a bit of time to start installing the solar panels.
http://www.jimthetruck.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/solar-install.html
I've got 5 of the 8 100w panels installed, although only 4 are...
A most usefull tool! you could make some cash on the side by making prop shafts for local garages extending truck chassis
As roamingyak said, if you come to London, don't forget how close the rest of Europe is. You can be in the Alps or even Prague in a day's drive, or on the French riviera, or Barcelona in a day and a...
Hi Chris,
I live in Tottenham and I've lived in London my whole life, here is my opinion.
You don't need a car in London at all. Almost all journeys, except perhaps moving circumfrentially (is...
Hi Anton,
You don't say where you are based, but there is a spring specialist in Wembley, UK who who will make or modifiy any springs. They are experts and I and many friends have used them.

thanks, although I'm not inclined to agree. It is a completely ridiculous truck to convert into a motorhome and has made even the simplest jobs painfully slow!
I had a little time to build a table...
from KJ Howells. I've been getting some teak mouldings from them and they do a good price on the Lagun. Nice people to deal with.
I've all but finished the nearside bench seat. There's a small bit of cladding to complete over the electrical locker, the teak needs a final coat of varnish, and it obviously needs upholstering....
I recently got Jim back from Brownchurch who made a roofrack for me. It supports the heavy awning and I'll fit eight 100w solar panels to it when I've run the wiring for them. It's made from steel...
I've seen Ojop overcentre fastners used for similar roles, although they are no rated for extreme loads.

As a good antidote to the overused camel trophy phrase, I saw a sticker which said "one wife, livid!"
That doesn't suprise me, but as long as you don't abuse the cutters you can get them resharpened almost indefinately.
What's the next tool upgrade? maybe some sheet metal tools for doing some...
that looks like an expensive shopping trip!
In some places yes. The construction of most of the box is fairly standard, using a 50mm deep steel frame, clad on the outside with plywood walls and an aluminium roof. The difference is the internal...
I am currently converting an ex Brinks cash-in-transit truck and there were solenoids exactly as you describe on all of the doors and hatches when I bought the truck. There were several independant...
Hi Joaquin,
I'm still undecided about whether I'll be shipping to canada for a trip through the Americas, but if I do, I'll certainly get in touch.
I described my solution here:

It's a set of aluminium steps from an army auction place in the UK, with some custom brackets made...
