it does let some in, but from the air over the canopy. far less dust there than whats getting sucked up from under the truck threw the tailgate
i have a vented cap "IN" the canopy, in a recessed pocket on the outside of the canopy. I cut a hole in my canopy and put a pocket in for it so i could fuel outside the truck. hope that makes more...

Make sure to vent the tank out from under the canopy. west coast marine has some options and fittings as well.
