Nice. This is good info, I have a windows tablet and will be shopping for a GPS puck soon, along with a car charger.
Also want to do the 7" tab thing, but that may be a bit big for daily driver...
Haven't looked in the wheel well of that vehicle, but I've hammered pinch welds before for clearance. Followed by some paintable rocker-guard and nobody will see your surgery.
Maybe try hammering...
The power steering rack is basically the steering damper. An active hydraulic damper.
^^ yep. Sellers market though. If its got lockers and they work, plus there's service records, then the price isn't a deal breaker.
Also, be patient. I wanted one for years before stumbling...
So much truth in this statement.
I've got my eyes open for a nice unmolested, dealer maintained 2006 LX470. If I see one I may just jump on it and buy it for my wife. Might eventually turn that...
Just sayin, if they don't make a big fat 1/2" synth rope for the 16k winch, it makes sense for them to recommend against using one.
What is the maximum strength of the warn synthetic winch rope? If the pulling power of the 16.5k winch exceeds the rope strength then they would recommend against it.
I've read that 12v panels actually make closer to 18v (no load) so the charge controller would be the critical piece
I'm looking into this as well. I'm currently using a 4.3" garmin nuvi and while it works awesome, I'd like a bigger screen.
A tab will cost significantly less than the garmin 7" navigator, and...
Exactly.
I'm running km2 and have been for years. Very good street manners.
It's been said by others that the km2 is the best mud tire for street use, with the duratrac a close 2nd. However...
I've always just punctured my empty canisters with a can opener (Swiss army knife or flat folding p50 style).
Just don't point it at the campfire while you're doing that.
Then smash flat with...
Is there an app that will turn the tablet into a garmin GPS? Or am I dreaming of something that doesn't exist?
Not so good on ice. But excellent on street and rocks. I don't do mud except when I can't go around it
I was under the impression that these canisters had a bit of propane in them as well. And that's why inverted canister stoves like the MSR windpro work so well with an inverted can.
I've also...
Quick google search shows it at $649 with $80 mail in rebate. So $569 with free shipping from winchdepot.com
No affiliation with that seller, YMMV, yada yada.
I'd rather buy a warn m8000 and not bother with the spares. Just install with extra fat wires and military type battery terminals. The Warn is only about $200 more. And that is the best $200 you can...
Had I seen this thread earlier I would have suggested you head over to your local Lexus dealership and ask somebody for some. They put wheel locks onto all the cars, and usually have tons of mag...
Last time I looked a brand new warn m8000 is about $600, smart shopper price.
You still need to mount it up, and need accessories (snatch, tree saver, shackles etc)
Honestly I would rather buy a used warn m8000 and refurbish that instead of most of the cheap winches out there.
The very last thing you want is to have your emergency recovery equipment not work...
Awesome. Now I gotta take some stick welding classes at the local trades college.
The ones with the bendy beam and fixed pointer can be calibrated by yourself. Just move the pointer to zero it.
For truly budget and occasional use, the flexing-beam type torque wenches have no moving parts and have excellent repeatability--if you can see the scale. These are the $15 units from craftsman and...
The snap on twin beam torque wrenches are manufactured by precision torque wrench. The 1/2" drive 20-250 ft.lbs. wrenches go for around $150 smart shopper price. Very good quality units, and very...
+1
First thing I do is upgrade the battery terminal clamps and replace the power wires to the winch. Bigger = better.
