Default 74' F engine rebuild

Hello, I own a 68' FJ40 and am looking for a reputable shop in the Los Angeles or Orange County area to rebuild the replacement F motor I just acquired.

Not sure how close this is, but you should check out Marks Offroad http://www.marksoffroad.net/index2.html. I've only done business over the phone but has always come through.

I know about Marks Off Road, I've dealt with him in the past. Mark sends is motors out for rebuilding. I was looking for a good engine re builder that isn't thru a Land Cruiser shop. I've owned my FJ40 since 1992. But it's been down for way to many years and it's time to put it back on the trail.

I believe the shop that rebuilt my 55 F engine was called K & H Import. The previous owner had it done, but it ran terrific. If you go to Ih8mud.com in the 60 section there is a thread about recommend shops. Here it is shops

Default Bob's Automotive Machine Shop

We used Bob's in La Crescenta for 6 or maybe it was 7 total head rebuilds on FZJ 80's. (Throw in a Lexus or 2) Bob certainly knows his stuff, and is the machine shop of choice for several Toyota dealerships in the area.

He's a great guy to talk to, and has had his finger in just about every type of motorsport in Southern California. It is worth a call.

And, I am no pro, just the gofer for the owners.
