Thanks Pat, the lift has not changed, since then.

Front: Ford X-springs (aka F450 springs) and Donahoe Racing (now called "Icon") 2" mini spring packs
Rear: 2" blocks added (stacked with factory F350 blocks) - I have new 1 piece Icon lift blocks, that should lower the rear about 1" to be installed

Cheers
Mark

where'd you get the bumper and snorkel??

Not exactly an "expedition vehicle" by other standards on here, but here's a look at my full sized ford. Wait..... hunting is an expedition, right?

84 F-250HD 460ci, 4spd manual, custom flatbed, lotsa lights, 265/75/16 Honcooks (new since the pics) . pretty much got the truck for free from family, not running. Was going to build this up to be my "expedition/armageddon" rig, but after getting sick of putting fuel in it and not having any room in the cab... I decided to fix it up and will be selling it soon. Plan to replace it with an 80's or 90's suburban.

Thanks! Been lurking here for a few months now, just had much to post.

The larger deer (mule deer, similar to a black tail which I believe you would see down there) scored 140 which is a VERY good buck for a flatland buck around here, but if you get lucky enough to get a tag in western ND (in the badlands) 160pt to 190pt deer are not uncommon.

Here it is mounted: :D

Living in Central Florida, those deer are 3 times the size of our deer we have down here!!!! WOW!!

Cool Truck

I'll trade our stupid annoying deer for some armadillos. I'll likely have to knit them a sweater or something. Bring some of those cool gopher tortoises with ya.

I am very happy to not have to fill my 92 with the 460 auto. It ran like a champ, but 8 mpg gets old real fast!

I am averaging 7 to 9 right now. I bought a jet kit and I am going to jet it down a bit. I put a new 750CFM carb on it, which for a stock motor is a little too big. Makes serious power though. I hauled a dump trailer with dirt for a few days this summer and I was weighing in at around 15,000 lbs (gross). Pulled that 7+tons just like it should! I don't really need the power, though, and fuel is one of the reasons I am going to sell it and go with a burb.

EDIT: sorry, didn't intend to turn this into a build thread. haha.

The bed was custom made back in the 80's, so no manufacturer. I robbed it off another wrecked truck ('73 F-350), restored it, and made it fit mine. The bed is channel and plate steel with a turn-over goose neck. The sides (removable with pins) are just bent up square tubing. Headache rack is just square tubing and flat bar. I designed the cut outs and had them cut on a CNC. I replace every wire and all the lights with LED, added the light panel to the back, and made the step bumper work simply because it's different than every other flatbed you see and boy is it nice for getting up into the bed! Bed is simply bolted to the frame with plates and 1/2" GR8 bolts.

I got the truck off my uncle's farm in pretty tough shape and not running. Been sitting for over a year. Stock bed had been hit by a tractor, so it was shot.

The bed was welded the COMPLETE length of the frame rails to the doner '73 ford, so I just hacked the frame in half and pulled it home like a trailer. Took a TON of gas with the torch to remove the bed from the old frame, but eventually it gave way. The bed and '73 sat in a field for 10+ years before I got to it, so it was in TOUGH shape.

hours with the grinder, some paint, some spray on bed liner, miles of new wire, a bunch of new lights and it looks like new!
No, this was probably not the safest way to support the bed, but worked well when it came time to back the truck under it.
Was a little scary laying under it doing the wiring... I bet this bed alone weighs 1200 lbs.

Added some chrome wheels off a 90's 1ton dodge and set the bed on and it was really starting to come together.

I spend about 6 hours cutting and buffing the paint and chrome and was AMAZED how well it turned out:

I am currently working on restoring the interior. It had been on the farm and outside and uncared for/cleaned for 15+ years, so it was mostly shot:

Alot of it was simply scrubbing and soaking the dried out materials in new oils, but the interior is coming along nicely:

About the only thing I have left on the truck is to replace the shot vinyl floor with new carped and reupholster the seat. Add a couple under-body storage boxes and mud flaps and this baby will be ready to sell! :(

After all the work into it, I'd hate to sell it, but with 4 young kids, I really need an off road rig that I can LEGALLY haul them all :D

Heres my 01 7.3 Powerstroke, 6" lift, 37's, ORT bumper, 12K Winch, Tuner. Its my everyday explore do all rig. I have a Samurai that I tow behind me for the small tight trails, I love this truck, future plans are to find a light pop up camper or something to sleep in, sometimes a tent in Alaska just doesn't cut it. oh yeah, the front end is from an 05' model in case anyones wondering.

With all the rain we have gotten recently, I had to go play in the mountains. Saluda River was up by nearly 3ft!
