Garmin eTrax300 and running

I want to buy a Garmin GPS for running but would hate to buy it and it not have any more uses.
anyone know if the fitness profile setting in the etrax would work with distance and time tracking?


Any help would be appreciated and i have a short time to make a decision because i have a 20% off at REI
