    Question Water Tanks

Tossing around the idea of mounting a water tank to the underside of the M101. I though it would be nice to have it in an area that won't take up precious cargo space. Are there any concerns about this? Does anyone have any experience? Please feel free to recommend or comment on this. The ones I am looking at can be found at http://www.plastictanks.ca/category.php?cat_id=029

Having a tank on your trailer is a great I idea. The guys at Adventure Trailers have been offering it on theres for a while now. Only concern I think you should worry about would be a good sturdy mounting system for the tank. At 8.5 pounds a gallon it can add up quick. Cant wait to see what you come up with, sounds like a fun project.

I have poly tanks in both vehicles - in the back of the Tacoma it sits in a wooden cradle - has been working fine for well over two years. Second tank sits under a platform in the Land Cruiser. I do make the tanks removable for once a year rinsing.

    bought both tanks here

I don't own a trailer .......and don't know anything about them.

But since I had these pics of some members from our last outing....I thought I would share.

Gear's Poly tank......looks great, so functional!

Nuclear Redneck's tank?....(view from the other side)

Adventure trailer sells the tanks separately as a accessory. It's on their website.

We don't place the water tank under the trailer because of the likelihood of it being damaged.

Last thing you want is to arrive at camp and find out you punctured your tank and don't have any water.

We build a skid plate beneath the tank for added protection.

    Just Think.............!

If you had bought an Adventure Trailer..........

You would be as happy as.....This Guy!

Although now he spends so much time out there.....he has a palm growing out of the back of his neck!

This could be a serious condition.....but not for one who owns an Adventure Trailer....with leak proof water system for washing the back of your neck!......just keep scrubbing!.........

Not a trailer, but the same concept. I, too, was concerned about the weight as this sucker is 14 gallons. Full weight makes it worth 112 lbs. It's held in place by two steel brackets and four bolts, and the skid plate is bolted to the brackets. Though it's been mounted there for over a year and a half, never once had a failure with the brackets, or a scrape on the plate.

It actually resides in the spare tire's position and the tank happens to have a lower profile than a 265mm spare tire.

If the tank isn't so big that the filled weight is a problem, you'll be fine with adequate brackets and protection.
