    Default FWC overview article

Truck Camper Magazine, recently published a nice 2 part review of Four Wheel Campers after a visit to their factory.

The article features great assembly shots, basic info on the company and detailed camper options. Included is news of their international distribution in Taiwan, Iceland and Australia.

Great info and insight for anyone curious or considering a Four Wheel Camper -

    Default flatbed

Thanks for the link. The first article includes this information:

"When we arrived, they were finishing a container load of campers headed for Taiwan. The campers are a special FWC model designed for the flatbed trucks used in Asia."

I wonder if they are designed for a cab-forward flatbed, or a Hi-Lux pickup? The cab-forward models are very popular in Asian countries, including Australia. Cab-forward models have a cab that is too tall for a cabover camper designed for a pickup truck.

I'll write to FWC and ask.

Looks like a cab-forward design to me, with a much wider base.

I'll defer to you Chip, on the vehicle brand they're mounted on below. A few more pics you might find interesting, provided by Stan Kennedy of FWC -

    Default flatbed camper

The lime green 4 door truck is a Kia K2700 double cabin. They're equipped with a 2.7L diesel. Payload is 2200 lbs (1000 kg), so it could handle 4 or 5 Asian-size passengers plus the weight of the camper.

I can't identify the white vehicle. Both Isuzu Elf or Mitsubishi Canter are available with single rear wheels, but I don' think the SRW models come with crew cab.

The camper on the white vehicle does look like a custom version of an FWC. The camper sides look like they extend below the flatbed. The small windows make me think this is an older FWC design.

The camper on the green Kia looks more like a current production model, maybe an Eagle with the window moved to the opposite side, and with six inches added to the side wall above and below the window.

Thanks Chip. I could ask Stan if he has anymore specifics.

I'm thinking they are fairly new campers due to the grey color of the soft sides. FWC switched from khaki to grey in the late 90's. Also the flaps on the outside of the windows were just added in the last few years Could just be replacement fabric, but likely they're newer campers.

The dual windows on the model on the KIA are a unique option. They are available on their Shell model but not on the others like the Eagle or Ranger, which have the galley and cabinets on the driver's side. You're correct the sides look extended on the bottom. That wide base is unique as well. It appears to extend over their stair step typical base.

I can't tell on the white truck if the extended sides are owner built or custom from FWC. It's definitely not something offered here in the states. Not yet anyway. Thanks for the ID on the green truck.

Hopefully FWC continues to grow worldwide and meet their customer's unique demands -
