sadly, most all '02s do not have the CDL nipple, so need the whole case...

Actually, no...all that's needed is the front housing with the nipple, it can be changed in place relatively easily. All the CDL internals are still there, it just needs the nipple to actuate it...

You have to be careful because the preload on the bearings is set up by the shim that is behind front out put housing, front bearing. It is best to remove the unit for the front out put swap.
