Default Non delay digital point and shoot exists ?

After a few years with a sony and a portfolio of shots of bare roads sans the animals that just lept across,

empty shots of race track, the landing and not the jump etc etc..

I went Nikon D70 and love it........

But for hiking / out and about its quite large......even though I took it down the amazon and a 4 day hike in Peru..

The wife wants a small point a shoot...........i want one without the 4 second delay..............................

Does such a little gem exist ? any recomendations ?

as non of the catalogues..adverts etc mention that annoying delay

    waterproofing/ ruggedness......an asset too

    Hi,
I bought a Fuji F10 a couple of years ago when I got hacked off with missing shots of the kids etc. When I was looking around it was one of the faster powerup and minimal shutter lag. Very pleased with it.

Default Casio Exilim High Zoom EX-V8

    Check this out:

1.6 seconds from off position to capture

Shutter lag instantaneous when already focused

1/10th of a second when allowing camera to use auto focus system

8mp and 7x zoom with unique lens zooming feature

I have a Pentax W20. Waterproof/dust proof. Start to picture under 2 seconds.
Just ordered a Pentax W30 for the Fire Department. $220 Hope it is as good.

    I second the Casio.
I'm on my second point and shoot Casio and this is one of the main resons I went with them. That and the easily accesible things like ISO, White Balance, E shift, etc. with a minimal of button presses. The important adjustments aren't buried in menus.

I carry either my EX750 or my EX850 around when the D80 is just too big.
