Been working on the drawers......its been a love hate relationship. I'm not good at working with wood.....but I think this is going to turn out okay. Its going to be a bit heavy but I like the fact I can remove it.

The middle drawer is large enough for two .30 cal ammo cans side by side with two m4s on top strapped to the side.

I'm currently in the process of painting it with Rust-o-leum bed liner. I went with them because they don't have any grit or particles in the paint so it should be somewhat smooth yet durable.

I got bored waiting for paint to dry so I went down to the Flying J and weighed the Pig. 8450lbs, Ouch. It does have a hiding 5th wheel mount and the ranchhand rear bumper which is probably 300lbs. Although looking around the internet I'm not doing too bad.

http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1138554-curb-weight.html

figure 8450 - 300 - 200(me) - 145(2 dogs) - 157(51gal-29gal (std tank) * 7.15(approx weight diesel))= 7648 This is after the topper, roof rack, heavier tires, I'm sure the lift kit is a couple hundred lbs heaver than stock.

Would there be any reason to be concerned with the 8800 lb GVWR of the F250 as far as safety when compared to the F350 SRW 9900lb GVWR, when the only difference has been replaced(rear blocks with the lift kit). As far as I know the brakes are the same, frame is the same......I realize as far as Jonny law is concerned its probably not kosher, although TN bases their taxes on sale price not GVWR.

I ordered some SAE 2 prong connectors along with a charge controller today( I've got 240W worth of fold-able solar) and a 120v AGM battery tender/charger. So hopefully I've got "power in" sorted out, we'll see if 240W is enough, probably not for indefinite off the grid living but should definitely extend my off power adventures. The next big adventure after the drawers are done will be wiring this bad boy up....ugh..

Drove out to LBL today after I got done getting rid of some dead weight (hidden 5th wheel and old spare tire), dropped about 160 lbs. Drove out to the Battle at Fort Henry trail, there is a nice little trail that goes right out to the lake and then a walking trail that is hardly used which is perfect to let the dogs run around a bit.

If anyone has seen my posts in the storage section I've been looking for a material to use that is lighter than plywood but just as strong and I think I've found it....I'm going to try building pretty much the exact same thing out of 1/2" Coosa Bluewater 26 I've got a sample here and it seems just as durable as plywood (I smashed it with a hammer a few times to simulate recovery gear being knocked around). After talking with the people at Coosa and a local plastics company and watching the AT assembly video series I think I'm going to use cross dowels with gorilla glue to assemble it and then finish it up with Rino lining....Based on my calculations I'll be saving roughly 100 lbs Which will be minute in the grand scheme of things but I want to be able to remove it with me and someone not as strong so weight becomes an issue. As is my current setup is HEAVY....240 lbs for all of it according to my little cut program.

OMG What a difference!! no more driveline shutter, I finally have usable power in first and second gear. It almost feels like I have more power, though i know i dont.....Ball joints and hubs should be going in this week, I will report once complete....I'm expecting some destroyed OEM ball joints to be coming out. The truck almost drives stock again.

Edit: I'm excited to drive my truck tomorrow!..

Any progress? I am going to be starting on my 2001 F350 when I get back from the desert and I'll probably steal a few of your ideas.

So I havent posted here in a while, but I do have a few updates.

First as a buddy and I were headed to Overland Expo East my clutch decides to go. ....well hopefully that's what it is =/ if its anything worse I was going to get a new clutch anyway so mine as well start there. It went as I was pulling out of town 400 miles from the expo but I say we can make it, and we did. That's why I love a MT!! Brown Santa arrives!! I'm just waiting on the slave/master clutch cylinder set now so hopefully I should be busy next weekend!

I got a new south bend shift fork also as I've heard the original ford ones like to bend, I was a little disappointed to find its just a relabeled ford one, though the newer ford ones are supposed to be better

Its a Warn Series 18 DC winch, sadly it is 24v BUT! with the change of a few parts I have the 15k version in 12v, more than enough for the truck.

Now I'm looking at bumpers, I got the chance to look at a lot of Aluminess bumpers at the Expo, and there is no doubt that is the direction I'm going......now if they would only answer their bloody emails.....I guess its time to call those guys....
