The Service Truck

New guy here. I have been lurking for awhile.

I decided to post my build. I will initially be copying my posts from another forum.

Originally purchased this for my wife, but it has now become my service truck.

I found an ad for a 99 Suburban with no number. I was hesitant to contact him because it was past the limit I wanted to pay. I finally just decided to screw it and sent him an email. He called me back about 8 hours later. I explained my situation to him and told him flat out the limit I was working with. He was quiet for a few, then said come on.

I came home with this after a hour and a half drive one way. For $1500 in 2010.

It needs one of the rear barn doors adjusted, a/c system has a leak some where, front seats are wore out, the trim around the inside door handle on the drivers door is missing, the fender flares need to be painted, and the fuel gauge doesn't work. It has new tires, runs and drives like a new truck, fully loaded LT.

I am working out of the 99 now. Since I have been driving it I have done a little work.

It also received a full replacement walker exhaust, but the muffler was upgraded to the Walker SoundFX. Has a nice rumble to it, but still quiet. Added a Stainless tip.

Pretty soon I won't be able to post any more picture of it on here anymore. My companies logo's will be going on it, so the pictures will violate site rules.

Spray can of bedliner, 2 cans of trim paint, masking supplies, new bulbs, all new black front lights

Swapped the black bumpers over from the 94 suburban, painted the grille with trim paint, painted the fender flares with bedliner to cover pitting, then trim paint on top of the bedliner

Also got my exhaust installed today. This was the left overs from the 94 as well. Magnaflow Y-pipe to bring the dual 2 inch pipe into a single 3, Borla XR1 round, 3 inch to 4 inch flare, v-band clamp, 4 inch tailpipe. The reason for the 4 inch tailpipe was I had 2 option for good fitment, cheap 4 inch or 3xpensive 3 inch magaflow. I chose the 4 inch. Love the sound. Sound clips to come.

Side now have black vinyl stretched and glued. I am not good at this, but it looks better then plain cheap hard plastic. I will fill the holes in the back panel and wrap it in vinyl to match the sides. I will dye the top panels to match the interior.

Ordered some stuff for the console. With all the parts I am removing from the inside of the console, I decided to add some back in that will help with work. I am installing a power inverter to charge my drills/laptop, putting some USB ports in to charge cell phones and what not.

I had ordered some H3 HID lights to go in the lights on the front bumper, and they won't fit my lights. The bulbs are too long. So I ordered some cheap housings.

I am also going to experiment with these and see if they will be bright enough to work as an auxilary backup light.

Some action shots of the truck doing some work. I am a computer tech, but I there is a lot of other stuff I do rather then play video games.

The old girl has never told me no to anything I have hooked her to. Storm knocked down an oak tree a while back. It was 40ft long a 3 foot round. I threw a strap around it and drug it off to an area where it could be cut up easier. The guy that cut the tree loose was blown away, it was barely off idle and dragging away.

If this is going to be a work truck for you, and from what you've already said I can presume you will have tools and other building materials in the truck. This leas me to wonder what your plans are/were to deal with the interior carpet. Are you going to leave it in and cover it with something to protect it or rip it out and rhinoline the entire back compartment? One would think that the rhinoliner would be more durable and certainly more resistant to stains and such that using a truck for work presents.

Don't worry about posting pics of the rig with your company logo....it is part of a build and as a moderator I can say that no one should complain.

$1500 seems like a steal for that rig...nicely done.

The truck came with the factory floor mats with mud mats over top of them. It also has the factory cargo mat in the back. I also
keep moving blankets with me all the time just in case.

Thanks, that is good to know. Other sites won't allow it at all. I generally have to be very careful with my pictures.

No pictures, but got my Skyjacker Nitro 7000 steering damper installed. First time that I have ever liked driving one of these with the adaptive steering.
