Unimog U20 camper

It looks to me like you need to remove the camper to get at the spare tire? Interesting compromise.

Also interesting to see that it has the door located on the rear.

But that interior is beautiful!

Looks nice, but as Hadley says, looks like you have to remove camper to fit spare. So, you have a flat, and then have to put jacks on, and drive truck from under camper....with a flat. Its not ideal, maybe too bigger compromise.

I wonder how hard it would be to unmount the camper with a flat tire? It would take a fair amount of work with the jacks to get it clear of the uneven truck.

I love the idea of the de mountable body-I've been thinking of doing this with my637 ex army ambo- could use it as a tray when not travelling, that way I could sell my current ute-one less rego and one less insurance, servicing etc.

No table?

What size is that fuel tank? Looks no more than 100 Litres.

And the big question, can it squeeze into a container when the camper is off?

I think you would need significantly smaller front wheels, but that being said, yes I believe it would fit easily into a container. I have seen the U1300L fit into a container. They had to take the wheels off the front and replace them with dinner plate size aluminium wheels (no rubber) to get it in there though.

This looks to be a great vehicle. I have long thought that the 20 would make a grand camper. Nice to see someone went for it!

The U4000 will fit in a container. U20 is basically a U300 with different cab. It's actually quite common to run the Unimog into a container right on the brake rotors, I've seen it done several times. This one has aluminum attachments...382648d1308747767-unicat-u4000-6x6-incan.jpg
