Nitro Gear and Axle 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK Build

Here is one of our project vehicles we have built in house using some of our parts, and some other great products. Below is what we started with, and some of the modifications we added to this WK ready to hit the trails, and take on the snow we are hoping to have in the hills here shortly!

Engine: 3.0L CRD with TST Box, Swirl Servo Motor Bypass

Transmission: 5 Spd Auto with custom AEV Tuning in TCM

Transfer Case: NV245/Quadradrive II

Rear Axle: Stock is a Chrysler 8.25” with electronic limited slip “ELSD”. The downside to this rear axle is that you’re stuck with the ELSD. No aftermarket traction device will work and the differential cover is a different bolt pattern than any other Chrysler 8.25” rear axle. So we removed this rear axle assembly and swapped it for a Chrysler 8.25” from a non Quadradrive Jeep WK. This allowed us to install ARB Air Locker, Nitro 4.10 gears, & Nitro Extreme Aluminum Differential Cover

Front Axle: Factory ELSD equipped, Nitro 4.10 R&P

Front Suspension: King Coilovers, Rock Krawler lift kit, Synergy Sway Bar Links, Synergy Limit Straps

Rear Suspension: Radflo 2.5” Remote Reservoir Shocks, Custom Zone adjustable rear control arms, Zone Sway Bar Links, TJM Coils

Armor/Body Protection: ARB Bull Bar, Rocky Road Outfitters Rock Sliders, 4X Guard rear shackle mounts and rear skid, Asfir Skid Plates

Winch: TJM Stealth 9K

Wheels: Hutchinson Beadlocks

Tires: Toyo M/T 285/75/17

Awesome build.....good to see this platform getting some coverage.

Those RCV driveshafts or on my list...

What are the specs on the Hutchinson Wheels? Can you also provide exact specs on the front and rear suspension....I am running OEM and may be looking for another option....

Damn that looks good! If I were to ever have another jeep as a DD... I'd want it to look like that!

First off, great build, and I am glad to see you use this platform. But secondly, what is the camper behind it in the picture? Looks awesome!

Is this the same WK as attended a April snow run with the MCE guys? seems very similar sans Beadlocks.

Nice rig for sure:sombrero:

Wow, what a great platform. Today, I bought my wife a new 2014 Jeep Compass. We just didn't 't have the 50K entry fee required for the Grand. She'll use the Compass as a DD/work vehicle.

I sat in a new 2014 Jeep Summit and I can tell you this is an awesome vehicle. You've done a great job with this one. Please keep us updated as to what your next mods are. Watching closely!

Thanks guys! Tim, this was the WK that went on that run. It has changed a little bit since then.

Good news for all you Jeep WK and Commander owners, Nitro Gear & Axle 4.10 gears are coming soon!
