Dell announces Venue tablet line

Venerable PC maker Dell has jumped back into the tablet game with the announcement of four new models. The Venue 7 and Venue 8 models will run Android. The Venue 8 Pro and Venue 11 Pro tablets run Windows 8.1.

Rather than an ARM processor, Dell is using Intel. The Windows tablets (Venue 8 Pro and Venue 11 Pro) use Intel Bay Trail processors, with a Haswell processor optional on the 11 Pro. The Android tablets use a less powerful Clover Trail processor.

The good news is that all Venue models will include a GPS receiver, making them useful for navigation even without a cell phone carrier contract.

The least expensive Venue 7 model will cost about $150. Specs are similar to the original Nexus 7 tablet.
The Venue 8 with Android will cost $180.
The Venue 8 Pro with Windows 8.1 will start at $300.
Step up to the Venue 11 Pro, and pay $500 for the minimum configuration.
